CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP is pleased to announce that Healthcare partner Adam R. Marks joined the firm in Chicago. Marks is the fifth healthcare partner to join the firm’s Chicago office in the last year. He was previously at McDermott, Will & Emery.
Marks represents hospital and health system clients in transactional matters, including mergers, acquisitions, affiliations, divestitures and joint ventures. He also has extensive experience leading both the transactional and regulatory components of skilled nursing/senior living and pharmacy transactions. Drawing on his early career experience managing healthcare technology system implementations for Epic Systems, Marks also counsels clients in connection with various health information technology matters, including those related to software licensing, hosting and implementation, and regularly negotiates complex arrangements for his clients, which include both health industry providers and vendors. Marks received his B.A. from Northwestern University and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Loyola University of Chicago School of Law.
"Bringing Adam on board continues the strategic expansion of our Healthcare team in Chicago," said Luca Salvi, chair of Sheppard Mullin. "Since January 2022, nearly 20 prominent healthcare partners have joined firmwide, underscoring our commitment to grow this practice area and client base nationwide."
In addition to Marks, the firm recently welcomed healthcare partners Douglas Swill, Carolyn Metnick, Megan Rooney and Michael Wilson in Chicago.
Eric Klein, leader of the firm’s Healthcare industry team added, "We are anticipating substantial transformation of the hospital and health system sector and the post-acute skilled nursing/senior living sectors, with hospital affiliations surging in the coming years as the industry looks to shift towards value and risk-based reimbursement models. We also are seeing artificial intelligence, data analytics and point-of-service interventions producing better quality and outcomes at a lower total cost of care, highlighting the important role that technology will play for health systems. As we expand our capabilities to serve our clients efficiently, Adam adds even more depth to our seasoned bench in Chicago. We are thrilled he has joined us."
Sheppard Mullin leads many of the country’s largest strategic hospital and health system transactions, providing legal, regulatory compliance and risk management counsel from inception to launch. Recent examples include:
