Wellpoint New Jersey Fuels Trenton’s Revitalization with a Robust $150,000 Tax Credit Donation to Isles’ Downtown Project

Wellpoint’s strategic investment opens doors to enhanced living in Trenton by contributing to the development of safe, affordable housing and engaging recreational opportunities.

ISELIN, N.J.--()--Wellpoint New Jersey, Inc. (formerly Amerigroup New Jersey) recently reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing community wellbeing by making a $150,000 tax credit donation to Isles Inc., for a redevelopment initiative in an area of downtown Trenton. Isles aims to reimagine downtown Trenton as a vibrant, dynamic hub that addresses the emerging needs of all residents, commuters and visitors. Wellpoint’s investment will help advance whole-community wellness by supporting the development of safe, affordable and accessible housing. It will also contribute to nurturing recreation and entertainment opportunities that will help transform Trenton into a thriving social and cultural center.

“Through strategic investment in the Neighborhood Revitalization Tax Credit Program (NRTC) and collaboration with Isles, Wellpoint stands by Trenton, committed to bettering the lives of its residents,” said Dr. Patrick Fox, President of Wellpoint New Jersey. "We are fully invested in cultivating stronger communities by addressing critical needs, such as housing, social services and employment training. Our alignment of vision and resources makes us confident that we will achieve meaningful changes and improvements to enhance the lives of New Jersey residents."

Isles focuses on addressing emerging needs, such as housing, vacant lot development, home improvements, local business support, neighborhood cleanup and arts programs. Amid their 43 year journey, they have consistently aided Trenton’s progression and have enabled residents to have a say in shaping the community.

“Isles is a community driven organization that has been at the forefront of Trenton’s revitalization efforts, largely through backing by the NRTC,” said Sean Jackson, CEO of Isles, Inc. “Wellpoint’s generous contribution accelerates our work and demonstrates a shared mission of enhancing community wellbeing, so we sincerely thank them for their steadfast commitment as we work together toward building a better future for Trenton.”

Administered by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs (DCA) Division of Housing and Community Resources, the NRTC program connects corporations with neighborhood enhancement initiatives. These strategic alliances yield significant benefits for residents and local businesses by enhancing community-corporate partnership dynamics and fostering community wellbeing. Corporations provide critical financial support and collaborate on strategic plans prepared and approved by community-based non-profit organizations. Once plans are accepted by the DCA, they are implemented as solid foundations to strengthen the communities they serve.

Wellpoint New Jersey has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to neighborhood enrichment, evidenced by a significant $450,000 donation made last year to the Jewish Renaissance Foundation in Perth Amboy to support the Perth Amboy Alliance for Community Neighborhood plan. This vital contribution has been integral in fueling city-wide revitalization efforts, and has been pivotal in enhancing living standards across Perth Amboy. Through this support and other thoughtful investments, Wellpoint New Jersey continues to drive considerable progress toward transforming communities, improving quality of life and fostering better neighborhoods for future generations.
