LOS ANGELES--()--America’s favorite pastime will be played by some of the best high school and college-age baseball players of Filipino descent from across the United States, Canada, and the Philippines, at the 2024 Filipino World Series, returning to Monarch Baseball Field at Los Angeles Valley College. Featuring more than 120 players across eight teams, the Filipino World Series playoffs take place Aug. 2-3, with its championship game on Aug. 3, at 7 p.m. PT.

As this year’s official media partner, GoldenTV will feature all games of the 2024 Filipino World Series live on its FAST Channel on Distro.TV at https://www.distro.tv/live/golden-tv/ now through Aug. 3. Fans in the greater Los Angeles area who wish to watch the games in person may purchase $20 wristbands at the ballpark, good for admission to any of the 20 games in the series, now through Aug. 3, as well as the Aug. 1 Home Run Derby. The full game schedule is available online at www.philippinesbaseballgroup.org.

“We are grateful to GoldenTV for partnering with us to share the Filipino World Series with audiences across the country,” said Bill Picketts, Sr., president of baseball operations at Philippines Baseball Group and head coach of baseball at Pierce College. “Recognizing, developing and promoting Filipino talent in baseball is our dedicated mission, and we are excited for the future of these incredible athletes from around the world.”

A lifelong coach, team manager, former MLB recruit and NCAA athlete, Picketts oversees staff and teams from Southern California, Northern California, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Canada, the Philippines, and across the U.S. Many of the ballplayers, some traveling internationally, will meet for the first time in the series playoffs.

“For the majority of these kids in North America, they’re often the only Filipino player on their school or club team, and very rarely do they see Filipino players in the major leagues,” noted Picketts. “Getting to play baseball with other talented athletes who look like them and share in their heritage is incredibly special. The Filipino World Series fosters an invaluable sense of cultural identity and community for our players and their families.”

In addition to the Filipino World Series, GoldenTV (along with its sister cable channel ChimeTV powered by GoldenTV) offers other sports programming such as boxing documentary “Manny Pacquaio: Unstoppable Force,” Nippon Professional Baseball games licensed from FTF Sports, Japan’s top baseball league featuring future MLB stars in the Pacific League, and more. A documentary on Philippines Baseball Group and the Filipino World Series is currently in development at GoldenTV and set to air later this year. More information on programming and subscriptions may be found at GetGolden.TV.

“GoldenTV is proud to sponsor this year’s Filipino World Series, and kudos to Philippines Baseball for its dedication to developing our Asian youth in this sport,” said Takashi Cheng, CEO of Golden Media, parent company of GoldenTV. “Diversity in sports and programming matters so much, not only to Asian communities but to everyone. It impacts our understanding of different cultures and truly reflects the reality and beauty of our world.”
