SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ATX Networks, a global leader in broadband access and media distribution solutions, today introduced the Visium™ MVP, an end-to-end managed video solution optimized for small and medium businesses (SMBs), including restaurants, bars and gyms.
The Visium MVP combines the capabilities of the new Visium MD Mini media gateway, the Visium MVP control app and the Visium Set-Back Box (SBB) to provide PayTV providers and systems integrators with a powerful-but-affordable solution that simplifies the distribution and control of content in multi-television environments through an easy-to-use mobile app and solves viewing synchronization issues in these venues.
“Many PayTV providers have historically lacked a purpose-built solution for the SMB market, requiring them to go to market with solutions designed for residential environments or large commercial sites,” said Jeff McInnis, General Manager of ATX’s Media Distribution business. “The Visium MVP was designed to target this market segment by equipping video service providers with a fully managed and cost-optimized solution that delivers industry-leading end-user experience.”
Deploying equipment designed for residential customers in small and medium business settings introduces several end-user experience issues, including the need to track and manage multiple remotes to change television channels. In addition, deploying residential IPTV set-top boxes (STBs) can result in the same content running on adjacent televisions being out of sync by as much as several seconds.
Optimized for ingesting streaming IP media from a Content Delivery Network (CDN), the Visium MVP supports content distribution using QAM over existing coax or IP over ethernet wiring, eliminating the need for costly rewiring. Sports bars and other establishments can also leverage the Visium MVP’s support for local channel insertion for advertising and other digital signage use cases.
Another critical component of the managed video solution is the ATX Visium SBB, a Pro:Idiom®-compatible adapter that works in conjunction with the MD Mini to coordinate content delivery and conserve valuable bandwidth.
The tightly integrated system is also designed to self-install, giving PayTV providers and integrators the option to deploy the solution without dispatching technical resources to the commercial locations. Both the Visium MD Mini and SBB auto connect with the Visium Manager, an element management system that configures and monitors ATX media distribution solutions, when connected and powered up.
The MVP Solution will be demonstrated at the Hospitality Industry Technology Exposition and Conference (HITEC), taking place in Charlotte, NC, from June 24-27. ATX booth (2350) visitors can also explore commercial services gateways from the Visium MD family featuring IP-ingest capabilities. In addition, ATX will be demonstrating the DVIS™ II channel insertion solution, the IP-capable successor to its widely deployed QAM-based channel insertion platform.
