EL PASO, Texas--()--Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Marriott El Paso is proud to announce the completion of Phase I of its total renovation that includes all guest rooms and suites. Phase II of the renovation has begun, with a completion date of fall 2024.

The hotel, which is popular due to its proximity to the airport, downtown, and the Mexico border, is centrally located in the heart of the Sun City. As guests would expect from a full service Marriott, the hotel is close enough to the El Paso International Airport yet not in direct flight paths for a quiet and pleasant stay.

Celia Dubrule Moreno, General Manager, says, “Our hotel has a fascinating history. Since the hotel originally opened in 1984, we have seen many faces and welcomed many guests to include a variety of performers, sports teams, business travelers and our loyal locals for a much needed staycation. Additionally, Fort Bliss, located in El Paso and 10 minutes from the hotel, is the 7th largest military complex of the United States Army which brings in a wide variety of travel.

“We may be best known for being the host hotel for the Sun Bowl every year, where our hotel is turned into a mobile football headquarters for the team we are hosting, whether it be ACC or Pac-12 in alternating years between each conference. The Bowl game is one of the oldest traditions in college football and we are honored to be a part of this El Paso event, it is something we look forward to each and every year.”

Owned and managed by Columbia Sussex, the Marriott El Paso offers 296 guest rooms and suites. The hotel’s room renovations reflect the new design philosophy, coupled with a contemporary and upscale twist reflecting the Marriott brand’s comfortable, modern aesthetic. The complete redesign of the hotel’s guest rooms included the appointment of entirely new furniture and furnishings.

The guest rooms and suites have been completely modernized at the only full service premium Marriott hotel at the El Paso Airport. Fully redesigned guestrooms include furnishings that complement the focus on lounging with new relaxing ambient lighting, electronic connectivity additions, and functional workspace areas. The rooms and suites feature a neutral color theme with pops of rich blue, grey hues, and sunset palettes. Spacious contemporary suites feature a swivel big screen TV, comfortable bedding, modern shelving, and lounge seating area.

Bathrooms include new built in showers with glass doors and are contemporary and spacious, with white quartz countertops featuring all new large backlit mirrors illuminating the rooms. Also added is new bathroom floor tile, modern barn sliding bathroom doors with frosted glass and hardware, as well as stationary Aveda pump shampoo, conditioner, and body wash shower dispensers.

Additionally, each luxurious guest room is designed for optimal rest and productivity with architectural framing, contrasting finishes and thoughtful solutions to enhance a guest’s stay:

  • Convenient wall outlets, lamp outlets and nightstands outfitted with USB ports for multiple electronic devices
  • Luxurious bedding with cotton-rich linens, fluffy pillows and embroidered robes
  • High-speed Wi-Fi and a large desk with a well-lit workspace, comfortable chair and plug-in panels
  • 55-inch flat-panel TVs with the Marriott Entertainment Package, including premium cable and movie channels to keep guests well-entertained
  • In-room coffee bar
  • Strategically placed mirrors, including back-lit vanity mirror and full-length mirrors.

The Marriott El Paso features two concierge levels and a Concierge Lounge. Concierge level guests enjoy turn-down service (upon request) and Elite members have access to the Concierge Lounge on the 5th floor, which features expanded continental breakfast and evening hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and bar service.

Mrs. Dubrule Moreno also notes that hotel guests want to dine and drink like a local, so the hotel’s chef creates specials every week, such as Mango Shrimp Ceviche and Seafood Paella with Chorizo, and the Great Room’s mixologist is always sure to use El Paso’s local tequila, El Perro Grande, in the special local cultural cocktails he creates, such as Mezcal old fashion, Lemon squeezed and Paloma 915.

Phase II of the renovation will include public space, fitness center and indoor and outdoor pools. Also being completely upgraded is the hotel’s more than 13,500 square feet of meeting space, which offers one of the largest ballrooms in El Paso at more than 8,000 square feet.
