John Muir Health Works With CCGroup to Support Provider Network Optimization and Value-Based Care Programs

SAN MATEO, Calif.--()--John Muir Health (JMH) is working with Cave Consulting Group, Inc. (CCGroup) as part of JMH’s efforts to engage with physicians to focus on opportunities to improve efficiencies in the delivery of high quality, coordinated care to patients.

We chose to work with CCGroup for several reasons,” said Keith Pugliese, VP of Network Management for John Muir Health’s Physician Network. “CCGroup is a market leader in identifying key areas of medical condition practice variations.” Mr. Pugliese continued, “This capability will assist us in our ongoing efforts to improve quality-of-care, reduce costs, and offer a value-based care network for our patients at an affordable price.”

John Muir Health’s Physician Network is a not-for-profit medical foundation with more than 1,000 primary care and specialist physicians. The physicians associated with the Network belong to foundation medical groups or are independent physicians practicing in the community. For seven consecutive years, the Physician Network has achieved the highest possible "elite" ranking in the America’s Physician Groups (APG, formerly the California Association of Physician Groups) annual Standards of Excellence™ survey. The Physician Network also has successfully participated in several Accountable Care Organizations, including the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP).

A foundation for successful value-based care networks is MedMarkers™ and Clinical MedMarker Protocol Ranges™ developed by CCGroup,” said Dr. Douglas G. Cave, President of CCGroup. “MedMarkers™ are process of care quality measures, well-defined in clinical guidelines. Clinical MedMarker Protocol Ranges™ are achievable and clinically appropriate ranges of clinical practice for a MedMarker™. These ranges are developed by presenting the CCGroup National Comparative MedMarker Database™ results to the CCGroup National Specialist Panels.”

For more prevalent medical conditions, we want to examine MedMarker™ practice variations across our Network,” said Mr. Pugliese. “We need the most accurate measurement tool to measure overall efficiency and effectiveness. CCGroup has this capability, and we look forward to working with them.”
