UK’s Crown Commercial Service Names HRS to Provide Online Hotel Booking Services to Government Travellers

LONDON--()--Global Hotel Solutions provider HRS secured preferred supplier status from the United Kingdom’s Crown Commercial Service (CCS), giving the broad range of Her Majesty’s public sector travellers unique global access to HRS’ negotiated rates at tens of thousands of hotels. As part of the CCS Public Sector Travel and Venue Solutions Commercial Agreement, HRS’ shopping and booking portal – used by more than 3,000 multi-national corporate hospitality programmes – will be the exclusive provider of hotel accommodation to the new online solution for the U.K. public sector.

As per the public agreement, “CCS developed a procurement strategy to combine all spend under one Commercial Agreement, maximising our leverage of economies of scale to the total public sector spend on travel and venue find services. The level of public sector spend on travel in the U.K. makes this procurement the largest supplier opportunity in terms of volume and value in the U.K. travel market.“

HRS‘ comprehensive end-to-end hospitality services are gaining increasing traction with large, multi-national corporate programmes seeking to work with hotel experts and best-in-class technology. The company’s commitment to increased transparency in the hotel arena will be highlighted at next month’s London Corporate Lodging Forum. Taking place on 7 June, the event will feature dozens of corporate and government travel leaders, sharing ideas on best practices and addressing relevant trends in managed travel.

In accordance with Solution 2 of the CCS‘ Commercial Agreement, HRS will offer a broad range of online accommodation shopping, booking and payment services, driving newfound incremental hotel savings. Services include:

  • Online hotel shopping and booking services
  • Provision of CCS-negotiated hotel rates at properties within the UK and in select countries outside the U.K.
  • Provision of HRS‘ unique discounted rates at a broad range of hotel properties within the U.K. and around the world
  • Secure central payment processes that reduce fraud scenarios and ensure the correct rates are charged / paid to hotels for each trip
  • 24x7 support for all travellers booking their accommodation through the HRS portal, including online and offline (via phone) services

HRS, which has served a growing number of U.K.-based corporations since 2006, supports travellers that increasingly book hotels via mobile and online channels. “We’ve saved millions of pounds for U.K. companies and business travellers over the past decade; it’s an honour to be selected to put our solution to work to help the government save public money,” said Douglas Green, managing director of U.K. & Ireland for HRS. “Much like our extensive experience with corporations, we’re confident government travellers will use mobile and online pathways once they see how fast and simple they are. We’re confident the innovations we’ve brought to hotel program management – highlighted by increased transparency, rate accuracy and secure payment – will enhance traveller experience and program performance for CCS.”
