Wyoming Virtual Academy Now Accepting Enrollments for 2018-19 School Year

Statewide Online Public School Offers Alternative to Traditional Brick-and-Mortar Education

LUSK, Wyo.--()--Wyoming Virtual Academy (WYVA) is now accepting enrollment applications for the 2018-19 academic year as the school prepares to begin its 10th year of operation in the fall. An AdvancED-accredited online public school program of Niobrara County School District #1, WYVA is available to full-time students in kindergarten through 12th grade statewide.

Students who attend WYVA come from across the state of Wyoming, often remote areas where they may not otherwise have the opportunity to access a high-quality education. The school’s personalized educational experience includes small-group instruction opportunities and one-on-one teacher interaction.

The rigorous and engaging curriculum includes courses in English/language arts, math, science, history, world languages, art and music, as well as electives, honors and Advanced Placement® courses. State-certified teachers provide instruction, guidance and support, interacting with parents and students via email, phone, web-based classrooms and online discussions.

Eligible students can also earn college credit tuition-free while still in high school through concurrent enrollment in online courses at Eastern Wyoming Colleges, with credits easily transferable to the University of Wyoming. Students can receive up to 32 credits to apply to both their high school diploma and post-secondary degree.

“Wyoming Virtual Academy has given me the best education I could ask for with the flexibility I need to participate in many other great programs to learn about community service, leadership and the world around me,” said Grace Belize Anderson, a senior at WYVA who has been with the school since it opened. “I honestly could not do all that I do if I were not an online school student.”

WYVA also creates a sense of community through regularly scheduled regional educational field trips and social outings, providing close collaboration between teachers, staff and students.

Throughout the open enrollment period, WYVA will host a number of online and in-person information sessions throughout the state. For more information about the school and for a complete list of events, please visit http://wyva.k12.com.
