HDI Further Expands its U.S. Engineering Lines & Construction Division

CHICAGO--()--Industrial lines insurer HDI Global Insurance Company (HDI) has announced recent hires in its Engineering Lines and Construction division.

John Schossler, CPCU, CRIS, has been appointed Assistant Vice President, Casualty Construction Manager. In this role, John will lead all efforts in the development of this segment by cultivating deeper relationships with producers and accelerating HDI’s market presence throughout the U.S.

John joins HDI from CNA, where he most recently was an Underwriting Director in their National Accounts unit, handling some of the company’s largest and complex construction writings. Prior to CNA, John worked at Travelers and St. Paul Fire & Marine Insurance Company.

“John is a proven leader and has strong knowledge of large casualty and construction risks,” said Jim Clark, Chief Underwriting Officer and Senior Vice President of HDI. “His underwriting expertise and portfolio management make him uniquely suited to lead our U.S. Casualty Construction division and serve the needs of our local agents and brokers.”

Casualty construction risks will primarily be written under HDI’s newly formed excess and surplus lines subsidiary, HDI Specialty Insurance Company (HDI Specialty).

Further additions to the division, include:

Andre Youngblood, Senior Engineering Lines Underwriter will oversee all underwriting efforts for the Midwest region. Andre started his commercial insurance career with The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. Most recently, he was the Midwest region Package and Small Business Director for Allianz Global Corporate and Specialty.

Frank Tomasello, Senior Engineering Lines Underwriter is responsible for all underwriting across the East Coast. Frank joins HDI from Seneca Insurance Company, where he was most recently a lead property underwriter, handling all new and renewal business within the Midwest.

Ryan Hornbeck, Senior Engineering Lines Underwriter will lead all underwriting efforts across the Pacific Northwest. Ryan brings over eighteen years of insurance and reinsurance experience, most recently as an Executive Underwriter for Allianz’s Midwest region. Prior to that, he underwrote property facultative reinsurance for XL Catlin and Gen Re.
