WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA) employees put on their walking shoes and raised nearly $300,000, the most amount ever raised by a National Team participating in Kidney Walk, the centerpiece fundraiser of the National Kidney Foundation (NKF). The record amount surpassed the goal of $250,000 the company set for itself.
FMCNA is the premier healthcare company focused on providing the highest quality care to people with renal and other chronic conditions. The company raised more than $1 million since 2012 for the NKF Kidney Walks, the nation’s largest fundraising initiative to fight kidney disease. FMCNA was one of eight National Teams participating in 2017. The company-wide effort included more than 3,700 FMCNA employees, who joined more than 260 teams at 74 Kidney Walks across the country.
“Giving back to the community is part of who we are. Our partnership with the National Kidney Foundation is one of the ways we live our mission to improve the quality of life of every patient every day,” said Bill Valle, chief executive officer of Fresenius Medical Care North America. “We’re honored to help the National Kidney Foundation deliver the highest quality services to all those affected by kidney disease in communities nationwide and look forward to our continued partnership. Surpassing our fundraising goal speaks to the dedication of our employees in supporting this important cause.”
“FMCNA exceeding its Kidney Walk fundraising goal in such a big way is a big win for everyone affected by kidney disease,” said Kevin Longino, chief executive officer of the National Kidney Foundation and a kidney transplant patient. “Their strong showing across the country demonstrates a fantastic level of participation that will accelerate our mission. We are proud to partner FMCNA.”
Held in more than 100 communities, more than 85,000 walkers join NKF in raising more than $9 million each year to help kidney patients and their families. More than 81 cents of every dollar donated directly supports NKF programs and services.
