24 Hour Fitness Reaches Recruitment Goal For Hiring 2,400 Military Veterans

Leading U.S. Health Club Industry Pioneer Continues Longtime Commitment To Recruit And Hire Military Veterans

SAN RAMON, Calif.--()--As the country prepares to celebrate the upcoming Veteran’s Day holiday, 24 Hour Fitness, a leading U.S. health industry pioneer, has fortuitously surpassed the company-wide goal that was set at the end of 2015 of actively recruiting and hiring 2,400 members of the military through the “Boots 24” initiative by the end of 2017. The initiative provides opportunities for Active Duty, Veterans and Military spouses and their family members to apply their strengths, grow their careers and make a difference in the community by helping 24 Hour Fitness members improve their lives through fitness.

“As a former member of the military myself, I am extremely proud of our team’s long term dedication towards this initiative,” said Chris Roussos, CEO, 24 Hour Fitness. “Our company appreciates the sacrifice and dedication it takes to serve in the military. These individuals have all the characteristics we look for when we’re recruiting for our network of over 420 clubs throughout the U.S., as well as our corporate leaders. They are disciplined, reliable and understand the true meaning of team work. They are truly outstanding citizens, passionate about fitness, and we are proud of the fact that they have chosen to become a part of our team.”

Since the company’s inception in 1983, 24 Hour Fitness has been dedicated to supporting the military—providing free workouts for military personnel and veterans on Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day, supporting the Toys for Tots partnership, among other efforts. Additionally, the 24 Hour Fitness career site incorporates messaging specific to military applicants. Grassroots recruitment outreach to military bases takes place in the cities and states where the 24 Hour Fitness® clubs are located.

“It’s been a great experience to be a part of this company-wide movement,” said Benjamin Randall, Regional Vice President, 24 Hour Fitness, and leader of the company’s Boots 24 initiative. “As a veteran, I’ve observed how intensely educated our company has become about military personnel and the benefits of recruiting these high value candidates into our company ranks as dedicated leaders. The flexible schedules offered in many of our club positions aligns well with military responsibilities, including club transfers with military relocations. This is just the beginning and I look forward to making greater strides with this initiative in the year ahead.”

Over the years, 24 Hour Fitness has been acknowledged for its work with the military; named to the Top 100 Military-Friendly Employers List, Top 20 Military Spouse-Friendly Employers List, and was a 2012 Finalist (from among over 4,000 nominations of service members and their families) for the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the DOD’s highest recognition given to employers for exceptional support of their employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.
