ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Plusoptix, the world leader in instrument-based vision screening, today, announced the launch of its new plusoptiX S16 series. A Vision Screening device developed especially for the use in pediatric clinics.
The plusoptiX S16 is designed to enable pediatricians to easily and reliably detect early eye disorders in children. According to the latest American Academy of Pediatrics Policy Statement, regular vision screening assessments in early childhood reduce the risk of persistent amblyopia at 7 years of age by more than 50%.1
With the plusoptiX S16, pediatricians obtain reliable measurement values for refraction (spherical equivalent), pupil diameter, pupil distance and symmetry of corneal reflexes. With these measurement values, it is possible to detect prevalent childhood vision disorders that can lead to the development of amblyopia (lazy eye) including hyperopia (farsightedness), myopia (nearsightedness), astigmatism (blurred vision), anisometropia (unequal refractive power), anisocoria (unequal pupil size) and strabismus (eye misalignment).

The plusoptiX S16 is designed for stationary use, which enables optimal practice flow and reliable access. It can easily be connected to a network server for data exchange to an existing EMR system. Additionally, the S16 model allows easy access to plusoptiXconnect, a software tool which prints measurement reports on any existing network printer. The stationary plusoptiX S16, as well as mobile models plusoptiX S12C and plusoptiX S12R are all eligible for the CPT 99177 billing code, which allows pediatricians to seek payment for their use.
