HYGO to Invest More into Online Video Content as Monthly Views Skyrocket

HYGO has become a top video publisher by creating original content and licensing clips

SANTA ANA, Calif.--()--HYGO’s content department is doubling down on its most impactful and successful area. HYGO is filling its new Santa Ana office with scripting, video editing, and video production teams.

The decision comes hot after HYGO announced its massive 1+ billion video views per month in Q2, with its beauty division, HYGO Pretty, growing to over 10 million fans in less than 5 months.

“It just makes sense for us,” says Sean Albert, Video Director. “Our videos can be packaged into advertising sales across the web, have the potential to go viral, and are the most impactful type of media content in today’s digital ecosystem.”

Despite the company’s impressive view count, CEO Stephen Zhang insists that the views aren’t what they’re chasing.

“We want quality. We want minutes watched. We want hours and hours and hours consumed. We want our fanbase coming back every day. If we can’t build brand loyalty over the next couple years, then we will have failed, no matter how many views we get,” says Zhang.

HYGO is certainly not the first company to announce a major shift into video. Buzzfeed, VICE, and VOX have all raised money at multi-billion dollar valuations, riding on their expected video success. Just two weeks ago, Apple committed a $1B+ investment into original video content. And then there’s Facebook, who has notoriously declared war on Google’s YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime as they each try to lap up the online advertising dollars.

HYGO has similar ambitions. While it scales its snackable video clips operation, it’s also eyeballing a different pie. HYGO Talent already has over 1 million fans - it features singers, dancers, comedians, and other amateur talent.

“We will be launching our own talent show. This has been in the works for quite some time, and we have incredibly talented individuals that are going to give mind-blowing performances,” shared Sean Albert.
