CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today APICS, the association for supply chain management, announced the launch of Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) Version 6.0. More than 107,000 professionals have earned the CPIM designation, which shows mastery in production and inventory management concepts, since 1973. Worldwide, top supply chain employers look for applicants with the CPIM designation, which can now be earned in a restructured examination process of two exams. These updates to the CPIM examination process are designed to make this highly regarded supply chain management certification more readily accessible.
“The CPIM designation demonstrates that an individual has the knowledge and skills to strategically streamline operations and maximize ROI on systems and technologies, which is why thousands of employers worldwide look for the CPIM designation when making critical hiring decisions,” said APICS CEO Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE. “The new CPIM Learning System is designed to better serve the needs of the supply chain workforce while maintaining the body of knowledge and integrity that has kept CPIM at the forefront of supply chain education.”
Participants will have access to the updated CPIM Learning System. Featuring innovative instructional design, the learning system contains online content, and offers extensive educational resources such as exam preparation strategies and practice exams in a digital format that can be easily accessed and read on any device. All of these tools are designed to make it easier for candidates to master the concepts necessary to obtain certification.
The reconfigured CPIM program will, for the first time, allow APICS PLUS members to purchase a certification bundle that includes the courseware and exam credits for both CPIM exams. This provides a significant discount over purchasing each component separately and further streamlines the process for CPIM candidates. Additionally, attendees of the APICS 2017 Conference will receive a $25 off coupon for use on CPIM Part 1 or Part 2 courseware, or $100 off the certification bundle.
The career benefits of a CPIM certification are substantial. Holders of this designation earn on average 10% more than their uncredentialled peers. Additionally, CPIM designees directly contribute to reducing their organization's costs and increasing customer satisfaction, making them more valued by employers.
“The CPIM designation was created with the goal of elevating the supply chain profession, and it has done that with great success,” said Senior Director of Professional Development Bob Collins, CFPIM, CIRM, CSCP, CPLP. “We hear stories regularly from members whose careers were boosted by earning the CPIM, and we continue to hear from companies whose CPIM-certified employees are contributing to their bottom line.”
In conjunction with the CPIM launch, APICS has updated the APICS Learn It app. The app, now called the “APICS Dictionary app,” has undergone updates to the flashcard database for the new two-module CPIM exam. While APICS transitions its CPIM program from the legacy five-module system to the new two-module system, flashcards for both will be available for study in the APICS Dictionary app.
The new CPIM Learning System is now available for purchase, and the CPIM Part 1 exam will be administered beginning September 30, 2017. The Part 2 exam will be administered beginning Nov 4, 2017. The updated APICS Dictionary app, version 2.1, is available for free through iTunes and Google Play.
