MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Driving to Donate Charity Golf Tournament, hosted by Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life®) raised $225,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association MN-ND, setting a new record since the tournament began. Over the last eight years, the tournament has raised more than $1.2 million for the local nonprofit. All proceeds go to the Alzheimer’s Association’s 24/7 Helpline which supports individuals, family members, caregivers and others impacted by the disease. Funds were raised through vendor sponsorships, player fees, employee donations, an online auction and raffle ticket sales. Tournament contests also took place on the course during the event.
“I’m so very grateful for the volunteers, vendors and participants who came together to make a difference by donating their time and resources toward such a good cause,” said Allianz Life CEO Walter White. “Many families are impacted by this terrible disease, and the work done by the Alzheimer’s Association is critical. We are proud to be able to support their efforts.”
In its eight years, Driving to Donate has become one of the top charity golf tournaments in the Twin Cities. This year, more than 300 Allianz Life employees and vendor partners participated in the event held at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids, Minn. Vendor partners included presenting sponsors Carlton Fields Jorden Burt, LLP and ThreeBridge Solutions as well as 19th hole sponsors: Faegre Baker Daniels, Quality Resource Group, Eversheds Sutherland LLP, and Tata Consultancy Services.
Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline
The Alzheimer’s Association 24/7 Helpline provides assistance to individuals and others coping with the effects of memory loss. In addition to helping callers better understand dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, masters-level clinicians provide information about treatment, caregiving, legal support, financial resources and living arrangement options.
“When someone is impacted by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, our 24/7 Helpline is one of the first places many turn to,” said Sue Spalding, CEO of the Alzheimer’s Association Minnesota-North Dakota Chapter. “It’s a lifeline for people who are in search of support, information, resources, or just someone to talk to. Last year, we answered nearly 9,500 calls thanks to the generous support of Allianz Life. This partnership continues to help those in need navigate the difficult journey of this disease.”
