JENKINTOWN, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--National Philanthropic Trust (NPT), the largest national, independent donor-advised fund sponsor in the US, issued 32,000 grants totaling more than $730 million in mission-critical funding to charities in fiscal year 2017.
“With tax talk ramping up in Washington and a healthy stock market, donors viewed this past year as an opportunity to assess their philanthropic and financial goals, minimize their tax bill and maximize their charitable impact,” said Eileen Heisman, president and CEO of National Philanthropic Trust. “We accepted a wide range of assets as charitable donations, including complex securities, hedge fund interests, interests in private companies, real estate, and cash, which will become mission-critical funding for charities.”
Heisman continued, “Our donors’ charitable interests are incredibly diverse, which makes our work exciting. Over the past fiscal year, our donors recommended grants to charities that support the arts in urban areas, perform promising cancer research, offer nutrition education in low-income schools and provide job training for single women in South American countries.”
From July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2017, NPT donors supported 15,948 US and international charities with 32,000 grants exceeding $730 million.
