LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Navy warships from the United States and Canada, and their crews, will sail into the Port of Los Angeles on Tuesday, August 29, to kick off Los Angeles Fleet Week! From August 30 to September 4th, Bob Hope USO and Delta Air Lines have teamed up with the Fleet Week Foundation to rock the port aboard the historic Battleship IOWA with Concerts Under the Guns, a series of free music and comedy concerts on the Delta Air Lines Stage produced by Fred Zermeno Productions.
The concert area, on the ship’s fantail, will open at 3:00 p.m. daily. Seating is limited. Food trucks will be on site and a Sailor’s Bar will be selling beverages dockside.
Wednesday and Thursday nights, August 30th and 31st, will be filled with local bands and comedy by some of the best talent in the region.
Friday night, September 1, guests can come on and feel the noise on the Delta Air Lines stage for performances by Quiet Riot and Los Lobos, preceded by the comedy magic of The Great Omar and the Metallica tribute band Masters of Puppets.
Saturday night, September 2, Vince Neil, the Legendary Voice of Mötley Crüe, will be performing all the Mötley Crüe hits, with thanks to the generous underwriting of the Annenberg Foundation. A 1980s Dance Party will feature a special guest, kicking things off with an energetic show, followed by veterans Thom Tran and James P. Connolly of the GI’s of Comedy. The entertainment starts at 4:30 with local rock group Purple Sugar followed by comedians Wendy Liebman, Sean Carrigan, and Culture Clash.
Immediately following the concert on Saturday night, there will be a Fireworks Spectacular presented by the Annenberg Foundation in the sky above Battleship IOWA. Guests are encouraged to dress appropriately. No coolers or outside food and beverages allowed. Donations are greatly appreciated.
On Sunday, September 3, country stars Brent Payne and Shannon Rae headline the entertainment. They will be preceded by tribute bands Dog n Butterfly (Heart) and Mirage (Fleetwood Mac).
The entertainment comes to a close on Monday, September 4, when The Babys will perform their hits on the Delta Air Lines Stage. They will be preceded by tribute bands Lights Out (UFO), PRISS (KISS), and Fan Halen (Van Halen).
This 6-day entertainment event is part of the 2nd annual LA Fleet Week honoring the US Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. Bob Hope USO, in partnership with Delta Air Lines, will be providing entertainment, as well as lunches, refreshments, and snacks to the sailors and Marines in port during the entire week through partnerships with sponsors like Pinks, Kinecta and Panda Express.
