SheKnows Media Takes on Health and Wellness with New Theme at #BlogHer17, June 22-24 in Orlando

Featured Disease State Awareness Campaigns, including Get in the Know about ME in EndoMEtriosis and Healthy EPIsodes, Encourage Women to Take Charge of Their Health

NEW YORK--()--SheKnows Media, a leading women’s media company that averages 60 million unique visitors per month (comScore) and reaches more than 300 million social media fans, announced today the launch of its new Health and Wellness theme at this year’s #BlogHer17 conference, taking place June 22-24 in Orlando. The new health focus is based on insight from the SheKnows Media Community, which has shown a keen interest in more health-focused content. As such, two highly impactful disease state awareness campaigns that empower women to take control of their health – Get in the Know about ME in EndoMEtriosis and Healthy EPIsodes – will have a strong presence at the annual conference.

Produced by SheKnows Media, #BlogHer is the premier conference for women content creators that attract more than 2,000 bloggers, vloggers, writers, social media influencers, entrepreneurs, industry luminaries and brand executives each year. Throughout the duration of this year’s conference, SheKnows Media will host a range of activities for attendees that focus on health and wellness, including two special events sponsored by the Get in the Know about ME in EndoMEtriosis and Healthy EPIsodes campaigns.

SheKnows Media President and Chief Revenue Officer, Samantha Skey, said, “Open, honest and straightforward dialogue about issues impacting women’s health and wellbeing is fundamental to empowering them to lead the life they choose. Health will take a front-and-center role at #BlogHer17, and we are thrilled to welcome Get in the Know about ME in EndoMEtriosis and Healthy EPIsodes, two awareness campaigns that strive to have a real, lasting impact on women’s lives.”

The Get in the Know about ME in EndoMEtriosis event on June 23 will include an interactive demonstration featuring leading OBGYN Dr. Rebecca Brightman to help educate women about identifying and addressing the symptoms of endometriosis, one of the most common gynecologic disorders in America that affects an estimated one in 10 women. Endometriosis occurs when tissue similar to that normally found in the uterus begins to grow outside of the uterus, and may lead to long-term pelvic pain (during or between periods), pain with intercourse and other painful symptoms. Endometriosis symptoms can be debilitating and may interfere with day-to-day activities, yet women can suffer for up to six to 10 years before proper diagnosis.

Attendees can learn more by visiting the Get in the Know about ME in EndoMEtriosis booth #107 in the #BlogHer17 Expo Hall. They can also go to www.MEinEndo.com and join the conversation online using #MEinEndo.

The Healthy EPIsodes event at #BlogHer17 will educate women on how to listen to their gut and make healthy choices while still enjoying the foods that they love. Digestive health diseases affect 60 to 70 million Americans each year. For women experiencing digestive discomfort, learning to eat right may help manage gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms. An under-recognized but manageable GI condition called exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI) is among possible causes of chronic digestive discomfort. EPI occurs when the pancreas doesn’t produce enough enzymes to break down carbohydrates, proteins and fats in foods and convert them into nutrients. Joy Bauer, a registered dietitian and celebrity nutritionist, will lead a cooking demonstration on June 23 to share GI-friendly recipes that are easy to create and delicious, while providing tips for how to identify digestive trouble. Bauer will also make appearances at the Healthy EPIsodes booth #206, where attendees can get her recipes, customize their own recipe videos and learn more about EPI. More information can be found at www.identifyEPI.com and join the conversation online using #IdentifyEPI.

Both campaigns are sponsored by AbbVie, a global, research-driven biopharmaceutical company.

About Get in the Know about ME in EndoMEtriosis

Get in the Know about ME in EndoMEtriosis is a women’s health campaign dedicated to inspire women to learn about and understand endometriosis. The campaign seeks to educate and empower women to evaluate whether they are the “ME in endoMEtriosis” by finding out how to identify and address symptoms of endometriosis with their healthcare professional. Endometriosis affects an estimated one in 10 women, but despite being one of the most common gynecologic disorders in America, there is a lack of awareness and prioritization of endometriosis as an important women’s health issue.
