National Government Services Awarded World Trade Center Contract

The Company Will Aid CMS and CDC with Providing Timely, Accurate Support to First Responders and Survivors of the 2001 World Trade Center Attack

INDIANAPOLIS--()--National Government Services (NGS) was awarded the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) and the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) World Trade Center (WTC) contract, which helps ensure those experiencing health side effects from the 2001 World Trade Center attack have access to quality care and prescriptions. The firm-fixed price contract, valued at nearly $4 million, has a term of one base year and four option years.

NGS was originally awarded the contract in 2011 and has served as the World Trade Center Payment Contractor (WTCPC) since that time. In this capacity, NGS issues health care and pharmacy payments to providers for approved medical services for 77,000 people, including first responders and survivors, who are qualified for medical reimbursement resulting from the 2001 attack on the World Trade Center and related sites in New York City, the Pentagon and Shanksville, PA.

NGS manages a nimble government-approved accounting system for the WTC program, incorporating modifications over time to meet the evolving needs established by the Department for Health and Human Services and the CDC. The custom system makes electronic and paper check payments on time, and with exceptional accuracy.

Additional responsibilities include reconciling the WTC bank account as well as processing and mailing all 1099 tax forms associated with payments made through this contract.

Over the history of the program, NGS has processed nearly 60,000 transactions and made more than $700 million in payments to those affected.

“We are privileged to support federal health care through our various contracts, but take a special pride in our work on the WTC contract – and being able to play a role in supporting the health of those affected by this tragedy,” said National Government Services President, Fran Gary.
