VALENCIA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--For more than 20 years, U.S. HealthWorks has provided high-quality medical care to treat employees with on-the-job injuries and help them to return to work as soon as possible.
Now the company, which treats more than 14,000 patients per day, is dramatically expanding its healthcare reach.
U.S. HealthWorks announced today a comprehensive telemedicine program called USHW CareConnectNOW (www.ushealthworks.com/Services/Occupational-Medicine/Telemedicine.html ), which will link those in need of care to state-licensed medical providers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
This new offering is currently available to self-pay urgent care patients in multiple states. For worker’s compensation patients, telemedicine is currently available in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Kansas, Missouri, Maine and Pennsylvania, extending the medical services available at the company’s physical locations; and will be expanded to additional states later in the month.
The new 24/7 telemedicine service combines convenience with U.S. HealthWorks’ occupational medicine expertise, allowing employers to quickly get their employees the highest quality care and treatment they deserve.
“This is a major step toward redefining the way healthcare works in today’s busy, mobile world,” said Joseph T. Mallas, President & CEO. “U.S. HealthWorks wants to meet the needs of its clients and patients wherever they are, providing access to care as soon as possible.”
Telemedicine is an expedient, cost-effective alternative to the ER for non-emergency medical needs and allows immediate access to a physician who can rapidly assess the patient. This new service will fill a much-needed void in healthcare with its focus on providing convenient patient access to care, 24/7.
“Our goal at U.S. HealthWorks is to help patients and employers access the occupational medicine expertise of our physicians and partners, even during hours when most medical providers are unavailable, such as at night,” Mallas said.
To access the online service, you can use a computer or a mobile device with a camera and internet connection. Patients can access the service via http://www.ushealthworks.com/services/CareConnectNow.html or via the free U.S. HealthWorks mobile app, USHW CareConnectNOW.
Once the user clicks on the website link or downloads the app, they will be connected via a secure HIPAA-compliant link within minutes to a doctor who can evaluate their condition, address concerns, and send in a prescription to a local pharmacy if needed.
Members of the general public may use the telemedicine service for non-work-related urgent care needs via self-pay with a credit card. Employers who have signed up for this service with U.S. HealthWorks will access it free of charge for any work-related injuries or illnesses.
