AXIS Re Partners with China’s Renmin University to Introduce New Actuarial Science Scholarship

“AXIS Re Actuarial Scholarship” Will Help Develop Next Generation of Insurance Professionals and Promote Professional Training in Actuarial Sciences

PEMBROKE, Bermuda--()--AXIS Capital Holdings Limited (“AXIS Capital”) (NYSE:AXS) today announced the unveiling of the “AXIS Re Actuarial Scholarship” in partnership with Renmin University. The scholarship fund will provide financial assistance to actuarial students in the School of Statistics at Renmin University to help further develop their actuarial science skills and acumen and to promote professional training in actuarial sciences in the Asia Pacific region.

At a recently held ceremony at Renmin University, AXIS Re Asia Pacific Deputy Chief Underwriting Officer Les Loh and Vice President Tony Gu presented scholarships to five actuarial science students.

Commenting on the “AXIS Re Actuarial Scholarship,” Mr. Gu said, “We are proud to partner with Renmin University to provide scholarships to some of its most talented and deserving actuarial science students. These scholarships reflect our company’s commitment to helping to engage and cultivate the next generation of insurance and reinsurance professionals.”

The AXIS Re Actuarial Scholarship is representative of the Company’s global commitment to developing the next generation of insurance professionals. Recently, AXIS Re held a “Future of Insurance” student hackathon in partnership with the University of Illinois Office of Risk Management and Insurance Research to help students explore how technology impacts insurance. Additionally, AXIS Re Asia Pacific also sponsors the annual Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) Actuarial Scholarship in the region, as well as related actuarial seminars throughout the year.

Renmin University is a public research university located in the Haidian District of Beijing, China, and is affiliated with several renowned universities around the world, including Columbia, Princeton and King’s College London. Its post-graduate actuarial science and risk management degree is considered among the highest-rated insurance-focused academic programs in China.
