CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Virginia Mason, a private, nonprofit health system based in Seattle, is expanding its work with Emmi, a provider of interactive patient engagement solutions. Virginia Mason will leverage Emmi’s platform and experience engaging patients to collect and increase responses to Patient Reported Outcomes (PRO) surveys, supporting Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements. In addition, the data will be used to refine and personalize future outreach, and inform the care and counsel provided by clinicians.
Virginia Mason currently partners with Emmi to engage patients at multiple touch points through their health care journey, including decision making, procedure preparation and transitions of care. Integrating the collection of PROs into the existing engagement strategy creates a cohesive and connected experience designed to boost engagement.
“We view patients and their families as equal partners as we co-design health care processes together, based on their feedback and needs,” said Donna Smith, MD, executive medical director for patient care services at Virginia Mason. “This patient-centered focus results in an even better overall patient experience that will continue to distinguish our organization.”
Emmi’s PRO survey feature is embedded into Emmi’s existing platform and integrated into Virginia Mason’s system, enabling providers to encourage patients to engage while streamlining the delivery and collection of data. The capabilities fully integrate into existing workflows, allowing Emmi to collect data for any PRO survey and deliver real-time data back to the provider within the EMR. In addition, Emmi’s platform enables providers to collect responses through a variety of channels, set follow-up reminders and automatically adjust the timing of delivery based on real-world workflow, such as scheduling changes. The platform provides comprehensive reporting capabilities, including the ability to create a customized report for submission to CMS.
“Integrating PRO data collection into an overall engagement strategy allows providers to motivate patients to take action, while also using the data to enable more personalized, dynamic and relevant interaction and guidance,” said Greg Blew, chief creative officer and vice president, product management. “We’re excited to expand our partnership with Virginia Mason to support their strategy of using data to create a better, more cohesive experience for patients throughout episodes of care.”
