Opening Day for First-Ever Sports Analytics Professional Association

ASAP Enables Industry Leaders to Collaborate on Innovation in Sports Business Analytics

WAKEFIELD, Mass.--()--The Association of Sports Analytics Professionals (ASAP) today announced it has launched operations as the premier professional organization dedicated to advancing the use of analytics in the global sports business industry. ASAP’s goal is to drive greater collaboration among representatives of the world of sports business, industry, and academia. The association brings together the sports analytics industry’s most respected and accomplished thought leaders with like-minded business professionals to meet, seek inspiration, exchange ideas, and leverage resources to advance the sports analytics industry.

“ASAP will enable innovators and influencers across the sports analytics business community to come together to explore the rapidly evolving and all-important presence of data in the sports business world,” said ASAP’s Executive Director Megan Morgan. “ASAP will get you on the fast track to exchange ideas with like-minded peers, tap into ground-breaking research, and network at regional events throughout the year. A Career Center will also identify talent or find your next opportunity.”

ASAP's Origins
For more than a decade, professionals across the sports landscape have gathered at the annual MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference (SSAC) to hear panel discussions, attend workshops and interactive events, learn about cutting-edge research, and network with thought leaders and innovators from all industry sectors. At the annual two-day conference, over 32 countries, 200 schools, and 120 professional sports teams are represented by the nearly 4,000 attendees, speakers, and sponsors.

“ASAP was born out of the desire from sports analytics professionals to extend the groundbreaking discussions and networking taking place at the SSAC,” said Morgan. “Industry leaders can collaborate with their analytics peers on a wide range of topics, such as improving sports and business operations, understanding fan behavior and customer touch points, and identifying innovative technologies from wearables and sensors to virtual reality applications.”

Join ASAP, the Arena for Sports Innovators
ASAP is planning a number of events over the course of the year, beginning with a presence at the SSAC17 event in Boston, March 3-4, 2017. All companies interested in the sports analytics ecosystem are encouraged to join the association. ASAP participation levels, Individual and Organizational, are open to companies across any sports analytics vertical including business, research, technology, marketing, broadcasting, professional sports, academia, public policy and sports regulation.
