SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Galvanize—the dynamic learning community for tech education, startups, and established companies—has announced that Nir Kaldero has been named an IBM Analytics Champion 2017, a prestigious honor given to leaders in the field of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
The IBM Analytics Champion designation recognizes individuals who make extraordinary contributions in STEM communities. The recipients distinguish themselves by sharing knowledge and expertise and helping to nurture and grow innovators and companies that are focused on utilizing IBM analytics.
Kaldero is the Director of Data Science and head of the GalvanizeU Master’s of Science in Data Science program, a partnership between Galvanize and the University of New Haven. Kaldero also serves as a faculty member in the MSDS program, teaching data science to students at Galvanize’s San Francisco campus.
A tireless advocate for transforming education and reshaping the field of data science, Kaldero’s vision and mission is to make an impact on a wide variety of communities through science and technology. “I believe that knowledge is all about exposure, and I’m committed to sharing my knowledge and expertise,” Kaldero says. “This is why I have chosen to be a leader in education and also dedicate my time to speaking on these topics.”
Among Kaldero’s many achievements, he has been the chief developer of the Data Science for Executive Training program Galvanize built in collaboration with IBM. The program was designed to train senior executives to be more familiar with data science and the potential impact it could have on their organization. Kaldero believes that organizations that choose not to invest in data science and machine learning today will not be positioned to survive in the markets of the future.
“Over the years, I have observed that many organizations want to use data science in their day-to-day decision making,” Kaldero says. “However, transforming an organization to be data-driven is not an easy management task. Galvanize and IBM recognize this and are pioneering ways to bridge the gap and build solutions. I want to continue to help organizations lead this change. Knowing how to translate business questions to data questions or how to identify and quantify Data-ROI can have a tremendous impact on a business.”
Kaldero is frequently featured as a speaker at IBM conferences and other data-science related industry events across the country. “I truly believe that investment in education, science, and technology will help us make our world a better place for generations to come,” Kaldero says, “and I can’t wait to see how this will play out in the coming years.”
