DRAPER, Utah--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Ameritech College of Healthcare has received endorsement by the American Holistic Nurses Credentialing Corporation (AHNCC) for its registered nurse (RN) to bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) program. AHNCC endorses nursing programs that have curriculum grounded in holistic nursing philosophy, theory, and concepts consistent with the American Holistic Nurses Association (AHNA) Scope and Standards of Holistic Nursing Practice.
Ameritech is one of only 13 bachelor’s programs endorsed by the AHNCC.
According to the endorsement, Ameritech’s program produces nurses that will “participate as transformational leaders in helping change the healthcare paradigm from one of illness and disease to health promotion, wellness, and well-being.” Graduates of endorsed programs are eligible for certification in holistic nursing after completion of the RN-BSN program.
Endorsement of the RN-BSN program by the AHNCC allows graduates to sit for the national-level certification exam, waiving the additional requirements of practice and completion of continuing education courses. This waiver applies to all graduates who have completed the Ameritech program during the 2015-2016 academic year, as well as those who graduate within the next five years.
In addition to the program endorsement, Dr. Julie Aiken, CEO of Ameritech, and Dr. Kathy Holloway, RN-BSN faculty member at Ameritech, are now certified as advanced holistic nurses.
“The endorsement speaks to the integration of holistic nursing standards at Ameritech,” said Dr. Melissa Popovich, Ameritech’s RN-BSN program director. “The Ameritech curriculum was designed to incorporate holistic standards throughout the entire program—not just an afterthought. The program’s fundamental curriculum mapping includes holistic practices from day one.”
Holistic medicine is healing oriented and centered on caring for the whole person, including developing the relationship between practitioner and patient.
The RN-BSN Degree Completion Program at Ameritech is taught in an online format using today’s cutting-edge technologies in the classroom. With generous transfer credit policies, working nurses can complete their BSN Degree in as few as three semesters.
The RN-BSN Degree Completion Program has had an excellent track record of success, with a 100 percent employer satisfaction rating and an 86 percent retention rate. Ameritech is offering this program to meet the projected needs of an additional 1 million nurses in the healthcare industry by 2022 as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, and to fill vacant positions that are requiring a minimum of a bachelor’s level academic preparation.
