Games for Change Announces New Appointments to Board of Directors

NEW YORK--()--Games for Change (G4C) today announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Directors: Alan Lewis, VP of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at Take-Two Interactive, Mark DeLoura, former Senior Advisor at the White House, and Duane Bray, Partner at IDEO.

As the leading national advocate for the use of video games for social impact, G4C aims to empower creators and social innovators to drive real-world change through digital games that help people to learn and contribute to make the world a better place.

Mr. Lewis is a communications professional with more than 20 years of expertise working within the interactive entertainment industry. Since 2008, Mr. Lewis has served as VP of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs for Take-Two Interactive. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the company’s corporate communications initiatives and media relations, as well as serving as the organization’s key Public Affairs liaison. Prior to Take-Two, Mr. Lewis was a Senior Vice President with Edelman in New York, where he led the agency’s Digital Media Practice, representing such clients as CA Technologies and Sony Ericsson. Earlier in his career, he worked with several interactive entertainment and digital media companies, including Acclaim Entertainment, GT Interactive Software and MusicNet, as well as top-tier PR firms such as Burson-Marsteller and MSL.

Mr. DeLoura is a veteran technologist, recently completing a term as Senior Advisor for Digital Media at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). While at OSTP, Mark focused on expanding the use of games as a tool for engagement and education, and increasing computer science education through informal means such as toys, games, and the Maker movement. Since returning to Seattle, Mark has worked on K-12 computing education and the use of games for learning. He maintains the Level Up Report, a weekly newsletter on informal learning technologies. Prior to joining the White House, Mark worked in leadership positions at Sony, Nintendo, Google, Ubisoft, and THQ.

Mr. Bray is a Partner at IDEO, and is the global head of talent for the firm, based in New York. He is passionate about areas such as workplace innovation, values and purpose, and how to align business needs with individual passions. Duane has a long history at IDEO, joining in 1995 to lead and develop the discipline of interaction design, now one of the firm’s most sought-after capabilities. For many years, he led the firm’s digital business, working in San Francisco and London, and developing relationships across consumer software, mobile and tablet, and web services. His work today in talent covers the spectrum from attracting talent to building cultures of learning to establishing best practices around benefits and policies. His work is both inwardly and outwardly focused, balancing IDEO’s talent strategy with advisement and consulting for clients.

When asked why he joined the Board of G4C, Alan Lewis said, “G4C is on the forefront of harnessing the creativity and innovation of interactive entertainment to influence real-world change and social impact. I’m thrilled to join the organization’s Board and to help build upon their important work that benefits communities, students and society.”

The three new members will be joining the 2016 G4C Board of Directors which include: Chairman, Asi Burak of Power Play; Treasurer, Brooks Tanner, independent consultant; Secretary, Ava Zydor of Seventh Reach Media; Bruce Hack of BLH Ventures; Jane McGonigal of the Institute for the Future; Erik Huey of the Entertainment Software Association; and Elizabeth Sarquis of Jukko.

G4C also expresses its thanks for dedicated service to the G4C Board to two Board members who are no longer serving, Ken Weber, former Chairman of G4C and Executive Director of Zynga.org and Caryn Effron of Ackman-Ziff Real Estate Group.
