TAICHUNG, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Taiwan International Machine Tool Show (TMTS) was launched in 2010 by the Taiwan Machine Tool & Accessory Builders’ Association (TMBA), and has become one of the most important metalworking trade fairs in Asia. Every TMTS exhibition, there has been a record number of visitors, drawn to the show by unique topics and display items that reflect the development of Taiwan’s Industry.
Dr. Eric Chuo, the former TMBA Chairman, is more than just the pioneer of Taiwan’s automation industry. He also puts a lot of time and effort into ensuring that the Taiwan machine tools industry is constantly growing. During this TMTS pre-show interview, Dr. Chuo expressed his care and expectation for the show and the machine tools industry, hoping that everyone in the industry keeps an open mind for the upcoming challenges.
Mainland China has always been Taiwan’s largest export market. However, the decreasing demand from January to August 2016 has caused a hugely negative impact on sales. Dr. Chuo stated, despite the overall drop in demand, there is still a future for Taiwan manufacturers. The main goals at this point are to accelerate the upgrading of Taiwan’s machine tool industry, to search for new application processes, and to learn from competitors, which will help with the development of new and innovative products.
“Let’s take the Chinese market, for example, the manufacturers not only need machines, but also the automation set. We offer add-on services to fulfill market demands. Taiwan’s machine tool manufacturers are capable of offering the China market smart machines necessary for single stop automation, and there’s no need to make fully automatic lines if there is no such demand. The single stop smart machines show great performance in various areas,” Dr. Chuo pointed out during the interview.
