Iberdrola Mexico Recognizes Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems with Outstanding Equipment Provider Award

Iberdrola Honors Quality, Innovation, Job Creation, Environmental Stewardship, Ethics and Social Responsibility

LAKE MARY, Fla.--()--Iberdrola Mexico presented MHPS Americas an Award for Outstanding Equipment Provider at an event held in Mexico City on Oct. 18. The ceremony was attended by industry executives, managers and key employees of Iberdrola Mexico and more than a hundred guests.

The Iberdrola Outstanding Equipment Provider Award was presented by Iberdrola Mexico CEO Enrique Alba and Chairman Sergio Alcocer to MHPS Americas President and CEO Paul Browning. The award recognizes Iberdrola business partners for quality, innovation, job creation, respect for the environment, job safety, ethics, values and transparency. Iberdrola, which holds a similar program annually in Spain, extended the recognition program abroad to Mexico in 2016 to reiterate its commitment to economic and social development of the communities where it operates. The program reflects the importance of supplier partners in meeting Iberdrola’s objectives.

“Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems Americas is proud to receive the Iberdrola Outstanding Equipment Provider Award,” said Browning. “Iberdrola has a global reputation as a leading energy producer and our partnership with the company is important to our long-term success in Mexico. Our two organizations share a common philosophy when it comes to quality, innovation and outstanding corporate citizenship, so this recognition is truly an honor.”

MHPS Americas has been working with Spain-based Iberdrola SA in Mexico on several projects. In 2016, MHPS Americas signed an agreement with Iberdrola to supply two J-series gas turbines, a steam turbine and long term service agreement for the 890 megawatt (MW) Noroeste Power Plant. Located in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, the combined cycle plant is expected to be online in 2019. In 2015, Iberdrola signed an agreement for two M501J gas turbines and one steam turbine for the CFE Noreste combined cycle power plant located in Escobedo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. This 850 MW plant is expected to be online in July 2018.
