MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Transition Networks, Inc., a leading provider of innovative, high-value, data network integration solutions, today announced its Scorpion-USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Adapter has been tested and certified through the Dell Technology Partner Program.
The Scorpion-USB 3.0 enables laptops, tablets or other devices that do not have a fiber port to connect to a fiber-based Ethernet network through a USB port. The SuperSpeed USB 3.0 connector transfers data up to 10 times faster than a USB 2.0 connector and is backward compatible. Dell tested and certified the adapter on its Precision Tower 3420 workstation, OptiPlex 3020 micro-desktop and Latitude E5450 notebook.
The Scorpion-USB 3.0 adapter provides an ideal way for government agencies, which often prohibit or restrict wireless transmission due to security concerns, to offer high speed data transmission safely over a fiber LAN connection. For enterprise or broadcast organizations, the Scorpion-USB 3.0 allows users to capitalize on the bandwidth advantages of fiber at the desktop in high bandwidth applications such as streaming media. The Scorpion-USB 3.0 is also very effective in university or corporate campus applications, where copper cabling lacks the required bandwidth, distance or security for accessing multimedia content and sharing data-intensive files over the network. As a certified Dell Technology Partner, Transition Networks delivers combined solutions that can be easily adopted by these types of organizations and others looking to provide Gigabit Ethernet transmission over fiber optic cabling with many different types of computing devices.
“Use of alternative computing devices such as tablets and two-in-one devices is growing quickly, and more enterprises are moving toward Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policies. But these commonly used devices often do not provide options for fiber connectivity. Our Scorpion-USB™ fiber adapters provide secure fiber connectivity for portable devices and are compatible with various types of Dell devices,” said Tony LeFebvre of Transition Networks, “Our inclusion in the Dell Technology Partner Program allows Transition Networks to reach an even larger customer base that use Dell platforms and helps those businesses solve their data networking issues.”
The Scorpion-USB 3.0 Gigabit Ethernet Fiber Adapter is the latest addition to the Scorpion-USB family, which also includes Scorpion-USB 2.0 Fast Ethernet Fiber Adapter. Both versions are now available through Transition Networks worldwide network of channel partners.
