TAMPA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Link-Systems International, Inc. (LSI), an educational technology company with student-centric eLearning solutions that pioneered the concept of on-demand, online tutoring in 1996, announced today that it will be opening a satellite office in Tempe, AZ, in order to hire additional tutors to meet the growing demand for its flagship service, NetTutor. The 3,200-square-foot office opens Oct. 3rd, and plans call for 50 new hires, including tutors, admin, sales and marketing staff within 18 months.
The company chose Tempe because the state has strong colleges and a growing population of multilingual college graduates from which to recruit.
“We are committed to hiring the best, most-qualified professional tutors, and to having all our tutors work in-house. This enables us to maintain constant training and evaluation to ensure quality,” said Vincent Forese, President, Link-Systems International. “Having tutors work from central locations in the U.S., both at the corporate headquarters in Tampa and in our new Tempe office – instead of independent contractors working from home or with third-party offshore providers – ensures a collaborative, academic and professional environment that benefits our students and their colleges.”
Because LSI offers centralized tutors, the company is able to align sessions to course pedagogy and institution methodology so that students work with tutors who know the books, the material, and the courses – a significant benefit for students.
“This expansion positions us to continue to deliver the online tutoring support students need, whenever they need it, for any subject, and on any device,” Forese added. “Our customers report that students who use NetTutor are more likely to continue their education two or three semesters later, with improved grades and student retention – particularly among first-generation college students, a population especially at-risk for dropping out if not provided with appropriate academic support early in their college careers.”
According to Forese, LSI’s emphasis on professionalism among its tutors is an important reason why a growing number of colleges are signing up for NetTutor and WorldWideWhiteboard, the company’s online collaborative platform. The innovation leader in terms of features and benefits for colleges and their students, NetTutor earlier this year conducted its three millionth online tutoring session. Schools report that the fact that LSI’s tutors know the course material as another important benefit.
