BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--par8o, the leader in network referral management, and CityMD, a leading urgent care provider, today announced a strategic partnership to enhance referral management. par8o’s technology, combined with CityMD’s in-person care and central care coordination services, will offer patients an unprecedented level of service for coordinating and scheduling the next step of their care. This combination of technology, service, and network integration ensures that all CityMD patients who need a referral are quickly scheduled for an appointment with an in-network provider of their choice.
CityMD’s 55 New York metro area clinics will join the 2,700 providers at approximately 350 locations already using par8o in the NYC-metropolitan area, which means referral specialists will be able to immediately schedule and coordinate care between offices.
With this partnership, CityMD will leverage par8o’s technology to provide its patients with a smooth transition from CityMD to their next care-related destination. “With health plans deploying more and more narrow networks, ACOs, and population health initiatives, ensuring that patients have a successful in-network care transition is critical,” said Dr. Nedal Shami, co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer at CityMD. “par8o creates a seamless user experience for our team and transfers clinical data from our system to the next step in a patient’s care. This represents a big technology-driven step forward in serving patients with kindness.”
In partnering with par8o, CityMD joins many health systems, self-insured employers, and insurers that use the par8o platform to better manage referrals, including MGM Resorts in Las Vegas, The William F. Ryan Community Health Network, Dignity Health, and St. Joseph Health System in Anaheim California. Dr. Daniel Palestrant, CEO of Boston-based par8o, pointed out, “A referral – the moment a provider recognizes that a patient will need another step in their care – tends to be a particularly critical moment in a patient’s journey, because it occurs when there has been a new diagnosis or an escalation in care.” Dr. Palestrant continued, “With patients facing more and more obstacles to scheduling care and finding an in-network provider to minimize out-of-pocket costs, the par8o technology, combined with CityMD’s outstanding care and commitment to patient experience, create a tremendous opportunity to improve healthcare for patients across the country.”

About par8o
Founded in 2012 by
the same team of physicians who founded SERMO, the world’s largest
online physician community, Boston-based par8o is the nation’s leader in
referral management. par8o’s technology is the only referral management
platform that is fully integrated into leading Electronic Medical
Records, such as Epic, Allscripts, and in the case of CityMD,
eClinicalWorks. Deployed as a cloud-based service, par8o’s technology
helps organizations more effectively manage their own referrals by
better matching patients to resources based on clinical need,
urgency/availability, and insurance type. par8o’s name is a reference to
the late 19th century economist Vilfredo Pareto, who observed
that systems can be made more efficient through better matching supply
and demand, otherwise known as Pareto optimality. Since its launch,
par8o has helped large hospital systems, employers, and payers lowers
costs, improve quality of care, and more effectively execute population
health initiatives by better matching patients to in-network resources
at the moment of referral.
