Dow Celebrates its 50,000th Habitat for Humanity Home

Product and volunteer contributions build stronger communities

MIDLAND, Mich.--()--For 34 years, The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) has partnered with Habitat for Humanity to help families around the world obtain decent, affordable housing. The Company is celebrating the 50,000th Habitat home that it has supported through product or volunteer contributions.

For this milestone build, Dow is partnering with Saginaw-Shiawassee Habitat for Humanity to build a new home in Freeland, Mich. From August 18 to September 9, Dow volunteers will work alongside the future homeowners, who have been working diligently with Habitat for several years to make their dreams of homeownership a reality.

Volunteers from Freeland area churches and Thrivent Financial will also lend a helping hand on the project.

As with many other Habitat projects, technology from Dow Building Solutions will be incorporated into the 50,000th build, including STYROFOAM™ Brand XPS Insulation, GREAT STUFF PRO™ Insulating Foam Sealants and WEATHERMATE™ Construction Tape. Dow provides gift-in-kind product donations for U.S. and Canada Habitat builds, and these products improve the energy efficiency of homes, resulting in lower utility bills for homeowners.

“Dow’s partnership with Habitat remains strong because we are like-minded in our desire to ensure that every family, everywhere in the world, has a safe, comfortable, energy-efficient home,” said Rob Vallentine, Dow’s director of Global Citizenship and president of The Dow Chemical Company Foundation. “We are humbled to collaborate with Habitat for the 34th year and to share our passion, talents and building expertise with 50,000 families across the globe.”

Dow’s support of Habitat aligns with its 2025 Sustainability Goals and its Global Citizenship mission to help build sustainable communities by providing access to energy-efficient, affordable housing. By working together, Dow and Habitat have been able to move collectively toward the shared vision of a world where everyone has a decent place to call home.
