CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bosch, a leading global supplier of technology and services, has announced top speakers for its Bosch ConnectedWorld event, to be held in Chicago, Sept. 27-28, 2016. Building on the success of a similar Bosch event held in Germany earlier this year, Bosch ConnectedWorld Chicago will bring leaders in business and technology together to present digital strategies, case studies and best practices around connected products, services and solutions in an ongoing, collaborative effort to advance the Internet of Things (IoT).
“Bosch ConnectedWorld Chicago will inspire attendees through a range of speakers, discussions and demonstrations all focused on the real-world, practical advancement of the Internet of Things,” said Matt Jennings, regional president of the Americas for Bosch Software Innovations. “The event content will provide a comprehensive view on how to plan and execute successful IoT projects and business models.”
IoT brings the future of mobility to life
From motorsports to everyday mobility, Bosch ConnectedWorld will investigate the key role IoT plays in the future of mobility. On the first day of the conference, a panel featuring Richard Hook, senior vice president and CIO of Penske Automotive Group; Tim Cindric, president of Penske Racing; and Will Power, driver of the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Dallara/Chevrolet as part of the Verizon IndyCar Series, will discuss the very real impact that digital strategies and IoT technologies are having across the Penske organization, underscoring the fact that IoT technologies are already changing the way businesses operate. After an opening presentation by Hook on the digital strategy at Penske, the group will highlight the value of data across a number of areas of Penske, including the value of data in today’s world of automotive racing.
Additional mobility-focused sessions will feature speakers from organizations such as BMW, Nissan, Local Motors, Innova UEV, VMware, Qualcomm and more. Topics include how to advance connected mobility technologies and how organizations can keep pace as connected mobility rapidly evolves.
The intersection of mobility into smart cities will also be examined as part of a panel featuring Danielle DuMerer, first deputy commissioner and chief technology officer of the city of Chicago, as well as representatives from FivePoint and Sidewalk Labs. The panel will examine how successful smart cities have implemented strategies and solutions to create sustainable, connected and safe environments.
Connected Industry innovations empowered by IoT visionaries
Among the real-world IoT projects that will be highlighted at Bosch ConnectedWorld Chicago are multiple successful programs in Connected Industry, also referred to as Industry 4.0.
The second day of Bosch ConnectedWorld Chicago features a keynote address from IoT expert and visionary, Jim Heppelmann, CEO of PTC, who will discuss the convergence of the physical and digital worlds. He will specifically explore the emerging trend of augmented reality for manufacturing and servicing smart, connected products, as well as the experiences and opportunities augmented reality is creating for competitive advantage in the IoT.
Heppelmann’s address will be followed by a keynote panel led by Mike Mansuetti, president of Robert Bosch LLC; Dirk Slama, director of business development for Bosch Software Innovations; and Dr. Richard Mark Soley, chairman and CEO of the Industrial Internet Consortium. The session will feature live showcases for shop floor transparency, process quality, product variety and flexible automation as well as best practices from implementing Connected Industry on various levels.
Additional sessions featuring speakers from organizations such as GE Digital, KUKA Robotics and Airbus will explore how the industrial internet is making an impact in multiple industries and how the drive for innovation in manufacturing has accelerated the need for connected products and operations.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to walk through Bosch Rexroth’s Factory Automation Roadshow trailer to see the latest connected industry-ready drive and control technologies. The Roadshow emphasizes practical techniques on the implementation of connected industry today, with conveyors, tightening tools, multi-axis mechatronic systems, and electric drives and controls all integrated on board to show how connected automation can work in the real world.
Creativity essential to unlocking IoT innovation
In addition to content featuring connected mobility and connected industry, Bosch ConnectedWorld will also underscore how open creativity can supercharge innovation. Dan Makoski, chief design officer at Garage Partners, founder of Google’s Project ARA and design lead for the original Microsoft Surface, will facilitate a fast-paced, hands-on keynote session on how to break free of what is comfortable in order to create experiences that matter.
In addition to the keynote addresses, panel discussions and networking sessions, Bosch ConnectedWorld Chicago will also feature a large expo area where Bosch and its customers and partners will showcase IoT applications, both established and experimental, so attendees can experience firsthand where the future of the industry is heading.
