ERGENTUS Emergency Service Physicians Joins US Acute Care Solutions

CANTON, Ohio & DENVER--()--US Acute Care Solutions (USACS) today announced ERGENTUS Emergency Service Physicians (ERGENTUS) has entered into a definitive agreement to join the national leader in emergency medicine, hospitalist and observation services as a founding partner.

Founded by emergency medicine physician groups in Colorado, Florida, Maryland and Ohio, and capital partner Welsh, Carson, Anderson, & Stowe, USACS is committed to the principle that high-quality patient care and the best hospital partnerships result when physicians maintain majority ownership and management of their practice. ERGENTUS has been committed to this principle since 1976, and joins USACS as a founding partner.

ERGENTUS emergency medicine clinicians provide care to nearly 120,000 patients annually through two hospital emergency departments and two freestanding emergency departments. With this partnership in place, USACS now serves approximately 370,000 patients annually in 18 locations in Colorado.

“ERGENTUS is a welcome addition to an outstanding group of clinicians who value physician ownership and management,” said Dominic J. Bagnoli MD, CEO, USACS. “We are committed to improving the acute care patient experience in Colorado, and through this acquisition both our partners and the community will benefit.”

“Joining USACS as a founding partner is a win for our clinicians, our partners and most importantly, our patients,” said Homi Kapadia MD, President, ERGENTUS. “Physician-owned and led emergency medicine groups are the key to efficient and compassionate care in today’s health care environment.”

Tom Burke MD, the past President of ERGENTUS, said “We have served our original hospital partners continuously for 40 years. This accomplishment reflects the deep commitment all our clinicians feel to a true partnership with our hospitals. The value of these relationships cannot be overstated, and joining USACS is proof of that fact.”

This partnership agreement, which has been approved by the shareholders of ERGENTUS, is subject to customary closing conditions, and is expected to close in the third quarter.
