EL SEGUNDO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Paladin Healthcare today announced that Barry A. Wolfman has been appointed President of Paladin Healthcare Management. Wolfman will assume the new role on July 1, 2016. Wolfman, who has hospital leadership roots in Southern California, joins Paladin Healthcare from his most recent 4-year tenure as Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director at the historic, 385-bed George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC, where he led an expansion-of-services initiative to meet the complex needs of the community.
Wolfman will draw from his numerous industry-recognized successes leading health systems in diverse communities, on both the East and West coast, to enhance Paladin Healthcare’s ability to manage and own hospitals in under-represented and disadvantaged communities nationwide.
“It’s an honor to have been selected as Paladin Healthcare Management’s President to grow its management division and expand its ability to do what Paladin Healthcare does best – positively impact patients’ lives, especially in the underserved communities in the US,” said Wolfman. “I am energized by Paladin’s nationally acclaimed success, which lies in its team’s ability to understand at its core the unique challenges threatening at-risk community health systems nationwide, and to develop tailored solutions to equalize both inherent and emerging challenges.”
Joel Freedman, President of Paladin Healthcare, said, “We are exceedingly fortunate to have a professional of Barry’s caliber join the ranks of our fast-growing organization. Beyond his success-driven leadership expertise, Barry brings to his role a great blend of clinical excellence, collaboration, and compassion for patients.”
Paladin Healthcare’s team is distinguished for their ability to transform underperforming hospitals into financially and clinically vibrant, high-performing, sustainable healthcare delivery systems that provide quality, cost-effective care and 24/7 emergency room access to some of the most underserved and disadvantaged communities in the US.
Wolfman has enjoyed a stellar three-decade national career in healthcare management, including diverse roles in Washington, DC, Nashville, South Florida, Philadelphia, and California. He garnered his executive experience in a variety of settings – investor-owned National Medical Enterprises (now Tenet Healthcare), faith-based Providence Health & Services, and the pre-paid side of medicine at Kaiser Permanente.
Before his most recent position at George Washington University Hospital, Wolfman was with Providence Health & Services as Chief Executive at Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California. Prior to that Wolfman served a dual role as Senior Vice President and Executive Director for two Southern California Kaiser Permanente communities, where he was responsible for partnering with the Permanente Medical Groups to oversee the care for more than 400,000 members. Wolfman also worked in various capacities with Tenet Healthcare for more than 20 years.
Wolfman holds a Master of Health Services Administration degree from The George Washington University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science Management degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and completed the Kenan-Flager Business School Advanced Leadership Program at the University of North Carolina.
