WESTWOOD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MEDITECH is excited to announce new customers Manati Medical Center (Manati, Puerto Rico) and Mayaguez Medical Center (Mayaguez, Puerto Rico) have signed for the 6.1 EHR. With 19 hospitals on the island already LIVE on the MEDITECH platform this marks another significant expansion in the region.
“MEDITECH has a large presence and a great reputation in Puerto Rico, with many physicians using the software at other hospitals,” says Francisco Caceres, CIO of Manati and Mayaguez. “Our physicians and nurses wanted a user-friendly EHR that’s fast and reliable, and from an organizational standpoint we were looking for a partner with experience and proven ability—MEDITECH was the clear choice.”
Both teaching hospitals, the 235-bed Manati Medical Center and 189-bed Mayaguez Medical Center will provide medical students with valuable training experience on the new system. And some of the younger physicians—who work at multiple hospital locations on the island—are already fully trained on the software, and look forward to the familiarity and ease of use MEDITECH’s 6.1 EHR provides.
With the help of new technology, both facilities are gearing up to accomplish big goals with MEDITECH’s platform. Here are the top three:
- Provide the best hospital service in Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
- Move completely to a paperless system.
- Participate in the EHR Meaningful Use Incentive Program.
“Everyone in our community is excited about this change. We already have the physical infrastructure and the clinical expertise,” adds Caceres. “Now, with a sophisticated and physician-friendly EHR we can take patient care and productivity to the next level. We look forward to a bright future with MEDITECH.”
Mr. Caceres’ care teams are excited to be more mobile and more versatile by using iPads and smartphones as part of their daily workflows.
