PRSA Colorado Recognizes Excellence in Public Relations with 2016 Gold Pick Awards

81 Gold and Silver Picks Awarded; Lola Red earns Grand Gold Pick; Dan Hopkins honored with Swede Johnson Lifetime Achievement; Colorado State University wins PR Team of the Year

DENVER--()--The Colorado Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA Colorado) recognized the 2016 Gold and Silver Pick winners at its annual awards ceremony on May 5, 2016. Sponsored by Linhart Public Relations, the awards honor the achievements of individuals and organizations for best practices and high ethical standards in public relations. One Grand Gold Pick, 54 Gold Pick and 27 Silver Pick awards were presented, in addition to honoring outstanding individuals, small practice and nonprofit efforts.

“Our Colorado PR professionals continue to raise the bar with thoughtful, strategic, and effective campaigns and tactics and PRSA Colorado is proud to recognize those invested in advancing our profession through excellent work,” said Nicole Yost, PRSA Colorado Chapter president.

The awards were presented before an audience of more than 200 professionals by Yost and Fox 31 Denver’s Chris Parente and Kathie J., who emceed the event. Winners included:

Special Award Winners

  • Swede Johnson Lifetime Achievement Award: Dan Hopkins, Scientific and Cultural Facilities District
  • Public Relations Person of the Year: Jordan Blakesley, B Public Relations
  • Business Person of the Year: Nicolle Davies, Arapahoe Libraries
  • Joe Fuentes Rookie of the Year: Taylor Prather, Eagle County Government
  • Mentor of the Year Award: Nicole Yost, Fyn Public Relations
  • Chapter Service Award: Elizabeth Jumel, APR, Jumel Public Relations
  • Public Relations Team of the Year: Colorado State University’s External Relations Team
