NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. (NYSE:EL) announced two key strategic appointments today that will help further expand the Company’s capabilities in consumer engagement and digital, and to continue to strengthen corporate communications globally:
- Damon Burrell joined the Company on April 11, 2016 as Senior Vice President, Consumer Engagement. Mr. Burrell will report to Georgia Garinois-Melenikiotou, Executive Vice President, Corporate Marketing.
- Anna Klein has been appointed Vice President, Corporate Affairs, effective July 1, 2016. Ms. Klein will continue to report to Alexandra C. Trower, Executive Vice President, Global Communications.
As The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) continues to focus on the highly strategic areas of digital and consumer engagement, Mr. Burrell’s appointment will help drive ELC’s evolution in today’s digital-first world. Mr. Burrell will be responsible for continuing to advance the Company’s consumer engagement capabilities to further enable seamless consumer experiences across all touch points and channels. With nearly 20 years of experience across a diverse array of marketing capabilities, Mr. Burrell is well known as an early adopter and leader in digital and social media. His career has spanned consumer engagement, digital/social media, consumer relationship management, marketing strategy and marketing operations. Most recently Mr. Burrell was at Viacom as Senior Vice President, 360 Marketing for Nickelodeon, where he led all consumer engagement for Nickelodeon’s media and consumer product assets.
“We are deeply committed to growing the Company’s capabilities in digital and driving consumer engagement to ensure our continued industry leadership in today’s rapidly changing landscape.” said Ms. Garinois-Melenikiotou. “Damon’s proven background in developing global digital strategies and building unique, forward-thinking consumer experiences will help the Company continue to grow in these highly strategic areas.”
As the Company continues to grow internationally, and with more than 60 percent of sales generated outside the U.S., there is a growing need to enhance strategic communications globally. Ms. Klein will expand her responsibilities to include oversight of Corporate Communications in the regions, working closely with the Company’s regional leadership teams. In her role, Ms. Klein will continue to strengthen and accelerate a global communications strategy to further align business priorities, manage issues, enable risk mitigation, and identify areas of opportunity to continue advancing ELC and its brands. Since 2007, Ms. Klein has held roles of increasing responsibility in Global Communications, leading a number of enterprise-wide strategic initiatives, including the creation of the Company’s first full-length Corporate Responsibility Report and overseeing new business development communications.
“Anna is widely-known both within our organization and across the industry as an outstanding strategic advisor and communications leader. With our international business continuing to grow, Anna’s solid understanding of today’s complex global landscape, combined with her ability to forge strong relationships with non-governmental organizations, the media and other stakeholders make her ideally suited to take on the added responsibility of leading our regional Corporate Communications teams,” said Ms. Trower.
