CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Huron Consulting Group (NASDAQ: HURN), a leading provider of business consulting services, today released its annual Healthcare CEO Forum Report. The report provides insights from CEOs of leading multi-hospital systems, academic medical centers, and community hospitals, who attended Huron’s annual CEO Forum to discuss the strategies needed to succeed in the rapidly changing healthcare environment.
“In the near-term, CEOs will need to focus on achieving clinical and operational efficiency as healthcare systems work to optimize cost and quality,” said Gordon Mountford, executive vice president, Huron Healthcare. “At this year’s Forum, leaders shared their insights and efforts to continue delivering the highest-quality, safest, most affordable care to their communities, knowing that the path forward will include new obstacles to overcome and new opportunities.”
The report, “Leadership for the Future: Meeting the Challenges of Change,” features perspectives from more than 15 senior executives. The CEO Forum attendees focused on three success factors –Advancing Transformation, Creating Resilience and Building Interoperability– which shaped the presentations and panel discussions.
- Advancing Transformation: The transition to value-based payments is moving more slowly than previously expected, CEOs agreed. At the same time, many organizations are preparing to adapt to new business models by building capabilities that deliver benefits under both fee-for-service and value-based payment.
- Creating Resilience: Fostering resilience among physicians is a top priority for healthcare executives. High levels of burnout among physicians as well as managers — due mainly to the pace and scope of change in the industry — have heightened this concern.
- Building Interoperability: Big data, analytics, electronic health records, patient portals, and other IT advances are vital to long-term success for providers, and building interoperability among systems is critical to help realize the elusive ROI on IT investments. The industry continues to analyze and understand the costs, benefits, and importance of interoperability among key IT systems.
