Thomas Health System Selects Parallon as its MEDITECH 6.1 Partner

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--Today, Parallon announces that Thomas Health System (Charleston, West Virginia) has signed an agreement that extends their longstanding relationship another seven years. Under terms of the agreement, Parallon Technology Solutions, LLC will migrate Thomas Health System hospitals to MEDITECH 6.1 and host, manage and support the electronic health record (EHR) platform on their behalf.

Currently, Thomas Memorial Hospital uses Siemens Soarian and St. Francis Hospital uses MEDITECH Magic. Consolidating on the MEDITECH 6.1 EHR platform is part of Thomas Health System’s efforts to drive technology efficiency, connect clinicians across the continuum of care, and improve workflows and patient outcomes.

“We are privileged to continue our partnership with Thomas Health System and very excited to deliver the latest EHR technology to the patient community of [Charleston’s] Kanawha Valley,” says Helen Waters, vice president of Sales and Marketing at MEDITECH. “Parallon plays a key role in making that happen through its considerable experience implementing, supporting and hosting MEDITECH systems and its proven abilities to optimize total cost of ownership and support greater scalability.”

“After evaluating a number of EHR systems, it became clear that the best way to meet our strategic objectives was to combine MEDITECH’s new integrated platform with Parallon’s hosting, implementation and operational shared services for technology,” says Thomas Health System CEO Dan Lauffer.

CFO Renee Cross adds that “the combination these two organizations not only meets the functional needs of Thomas Health System, but also positions us financially to serve the needs of our patients.”

“We’re honored to be selected by Thomas Health System as the delivery and support partner for a solution that will be mission-critical to its success,” says Curtis Watkins, president and CEO of Parallon Technology Solutions, LLC. “We also appreciate the continued confidence in our ability to deliver the systems, support and services it requires to meet its patient-centric objectives.”
