SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--China-based GoerTek Inc., a leading ODM of Virtual Reality (VR) solutions, today announced the availability of their standalone VR platform, powered by the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 820 processor, a product of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated. This cutting-edge platform is designed to accelerate customer’s path to commercial VR product development.
The fully standalone VR platform consists of a VR head mounted display and a controller box designed from the ground up around the Snapdragon 820. GoerTek’s innovative system design includes mechanical, electrical, optical, acoustic, and firmware development combined with the leading computing, graphics, audio, connectivity, and power management capabilities of the Snapdragon 820. Qualcomm Technologies also provided high frequency inertial data sensing, motion to photon latency reduction, power efficiency management, and stereoscopic rendering with lens correction. This combination of expertise makes the GoerTek standalone VR platform a category defining innovation in that devices based upon the platform can work independently of any other device (connected PC, for example).
