LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--UK based Osdin Shield (www.osdinshield.com), manufacturer of bespoke home furnishings, announces the launch of the first made to measure ballistic protection furniture. The products will utilise a unique barrier technology, integrated into the pieces without effecting design or function.
Firearm attacks are becoming an increasing concern both for individuals and those responsible for public security and Osdin Shield provides a highly effective, discreet barrier with the sole intent of shielding individuals during an active shooter event.
The shielding is integrated into stylish, high-quality furniture during the manufacturing process and achieves the highly regarded, internationally recognised ballistic standards, NIJ Standard 0108.01 Level IIIA and Level III plus, as set by the US National Institute of Justice. The system protects against the impact of a variety of bullets, including calibres ranging from 9mm to .44 magnum as well as protection against assault from one of the world's most feared firearms, the AK-47.
“We developed Osdin Shield furniture to save lives. Unfortunately unexpected gun attacks are becoming more and more frequent all over the world and often it is the innocent who suffer. We designed Osdin Shield furniture with the natural human reaction to unexpected gunfire in mind: to duck and hide behind a barrier.” said Darren Osdin, founder of Osdin Shield
Invisible to users, Osdin Shield products are ideal for use in stylish private homes, office spaces and high-risk public areas. The international customer base ranges from private individuals who consider themselves at risk of targeted attacks, through to those responsible for public safety in spaces such as museums, embassies and hotel lobbies
Osdin Shield’s hand-crafted furniture is available in a range of designs and ballistic protection options, from one-off bespoke pieces through to multiple units. The ballistic technology can be applied to a range of furniture and customers can choose fabrics from some of the top fabric houses including Osborne and Little, Harlequin, Designers Guild, Kirkby House, Colefax and Fowler, Brunschwig & Fils or Creation Baumann. All pieces are developed to the client’s individual requirements.
