CLEVELAND & CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Medsphere Systems Corporation and MBS/Net, Inc., today announced the merger of the two companies, effectively adding MBS/Net’s ambulatory physician practice-oriented services and proprietary applications to Medsphere’s existing focus on affordable healthcare IT solutions and services for acute and inpatient behavioral health settings. Moving forward, MBS/Net will retain its name and operate as a division of Medsphere; the expanded company will now offer a broader menu of healthcare information technology (IT) solutions and services for integrated delivery networks and standalone physician practices.
Specifically, the incorporation of MBS/Net expands Medsphere’s products and services to include complete coverage of the ambulatory physician enterprise. Proven MBS/Net assets include a fourth-generation physician practice management system, ambulatory electronic health record (EHR), proprietary document management system and advanced physician practice scheduling application, as well as the company’s established outsourced revenue cycle management (RCM) and practice hardware management services.
“Medsphere is very excited to add the demonstrated effectiveness of MBS/Net’s products and services to Medsphere’s proven OpenVista® platform, furthering interoperability between our hospital clients and their affiliated physician communities,” said Medsphere President and CEO Irv Lichtenwald. “We’ve seen the benefits the practice management and revenue cycle solutions have created for MBS/Net clients, in some instances boosting individual practice revenue by more than 100 percent. The focus of MBS/Net solutions on physician practices and the recent addition of Phoenix Health Systems’ consulting and services enables Medsphere to meet the needs of providers across the spectrum of healthcare.”
Founded over three decades ago, MBS/Net provides clients with insight into all aspects of practice management, including ever-evolving regulations and policies. Clients range from solo practitioners to large, multi-doctor, multi-specialty networks, and from private practices to hospital-based clinics.
“This opportunity to join with Medsphere in creating a healthcare IT organization that covers all the bases was something we were happy to say yes to,” said MBS/Net President Mordy Pelleg. “The combination of OpenVista for acute and behavioral health care coupled with MBS/Net for ambulatory is compelling, and the revenue cycle capabilities MBS/Net brings to the table are effective in both environments. We feel like this makes the future very exciting for all involved.”
The merger of Medsphere and MBS/Net comes on the heels of the March 2015 joining of Medsphere and Phoenix Health Systems, a recognized provider of healthcare IT services, including systems implementation, compliance project management, service desk, end-user device management, infrastructure support, application management and IT leadership.
Derived from the proven VistA system developed by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Indian Health Service, OpenVista is a comprehensive EHR platform combining both clinical and financial applications. Medsphere’s Government Services Division also applies extensive knowledge of VistA to development and testing work for the VA and Indian Health Service.
