FORT LEE, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--ScaleMP™, a leading provider of virtualization solutions for high-end computing, today announced world-record benchmarking results for x86 systems using the company’s vSMP Foundation™ software. vSMP Foundation claimed the top result for two Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation (SPEC) benchmarks, representing highest performance x86 shared memory systems.
vSMP Foundation enables customers to create shared-memory systems from their cloud-enabled data centers, providing applications with large memory and high core count for the lowest total cost of ownership. This line of products provides for the most power-efficient SMP system, leveraging commercial off-the-shelf hardware. The on-demand nature of vSMP Foundation improves system utilization and reduces management complexity.
ScaleMP benchmarking experts used a 128-processor SMP made of 64 dual-socket nodes and aggregated into a single virtual shared-memory system having 1,536 cores and 16TB RAM. It was tested with the SPEC® CPU2006 benchmark suite to gain record-breaking results: a SPECint®2006 (CINT2006) rate result of 40,200 and a SPECfp®2006 (CFP2006) rate result of 33,300, which are the highest results ever achieved for these benchmarks, beating previous top position holder SGI UV systems by as much as 29 percent. In doing so, ScaleMP’ solidified its leadership in powering high-end x86 systems. The official results can be viewed on the SPEC.org website (www.spec.org).
“vSMP Foundation’s outstanding performance forming the world’s most powerful SMP computer, as shown by the SPEC PCU rate benchmarks from multiple industry-standard x86 machines, proves once again that the future of the IT industry is software-defined infrastructure (SDI). ScaleMP’s software-defined computing and software-defined memory solutions provide the best performance, highest flexibility and lowest TCO as compared with their legacy alternatives,” said Shai Fultheim, founder and CEO of ScaleMP. “With these benchmarks, we have outperformed a legacy monolithic SMP from SGI that had double our processor count. And with more than 5,000 installations worldwide, vSMP Foundation has proven to deliver superior performance and cost savings for customers seeking a powerful and affordable shared-memory system.”
