Interlude Partners with Games for Change to Find Creators of the Best Interactive and Adaptive Film Series That Highlight The Challenge of Diversity in the US

Submissions for This Competition Are Now Open

NEW YORK--()--Interlude, the media and technology company that is pioneering interactive video that can adapt and respond to a person’s interests and preferences, announced today that it has partnered with Games for Change to find top interactive and adaptive films that focus on “The Challenge of Diversity” in the U.S. Three creators will get a chance to be showcased on April 18th at the Games and Media Summit during the Tribeca Film Festival and one will receive $10,000 in production funds, with two additional production stipends for the runners up. Submissions are now open.

“Games for Change is thrilled to bring Interlude’s “The Challenge of Diversity” competition to this year’s Games and Media Summit, in partnership with the Tribeca Film Festival,” said Susanna Pollack, President of Games for Change. “Not only does this innovative challenge align with our passion to foster collaboration between the filmmaker and game maker community, Interlude’s pioneering platform will serve as an interactive entertainment medium to bring the nuances and challenges of our diverse nation to the public forefront.”

For the competition, creative teams or individuals will submit pilots for interactive series that discuss the opportunities, difficulties, complexities and challenges around race relations, sexual rights, and economic disparity in the US. Like the best characters, the US is a tangle of contradictions: a place where millions of seemingly incompatible people live together, sometimes in harmony, sometimes in discord, and usually somewhere in-between. The films can be narrative, fiction, live video, documentary, or inventions by the creators.

Interlude will provide creative support and guidance for creators about techniques for interactive storytelling, and will provide its simple, powerful film-making platform that will enable these kinds of projects. Pilots, along with a treatment for the next two episodes of a series, are due by April 1, 2016. Three winners will be chosen, and their pilots will be displayed on April 18 during the Games and Media Summit at Tribeca Film Festival. The prize funding will be used for production for future episodes.

“We are building a new medium and we know there are vast numbers of untapped, creative ideas of provocative ways to use it,” said Yoni Bloch, Co-Founder & CEO of Interlude. “We are excited to see them.”

The power of this bond dramatically impacts a viewer's engagement and retention; Interlude content has an average of 10 times better engagement, retention, and sharing versus traditional Internet video content. This has substantial business implications for Interlude partners who use the platform, both in entertainment and advertising.

About Interlude

Interlude (www.interlude.fm) is pioneering a new form of media in which video can respond to a person’s actions and interests in real-time. Stories told using our patented technology platform can adapt in a multitude of directions; like in a video game, the viewer steps into the story to make choices that affect dialogue, and even the plot, at any particular moment in time. This means that viewers are offered nearly infinite experiences in live-action video within a single piece of content. The result is highly engaging game-like videos that consumers play over and over. We partner with entertainment companies, independent creators, and top brands to create episodic series that are distributed widely through a network of affiliates on the mobile web, mobile apps, and the web. Interlude investors include Sequoia Capital, NEA, Marker, and Innovation Endeavors. Strategic investors include MGM, Intel Capital, Warner Music Group and Samsung. The company is based in New York, NY with additional offices in Tel Aviv, Israel and Los Angeles, CA.
