25,026 Grants from NPT Donor-Advised Fund Accounts to 13,576 Charities Around the Globe

JENKINTOWN, Pa.--()--National Philanthropic Trust (NPT), the largest national, independent donor-advised fund sponsor in the US, issued 25,026 donor-recommended grants totaling more than $643.7 million in mission-critical funding to charities in 2015.

“Donor-advised funds are the fastest-growing giving vehicle for a reason – they are easy to create and manage and give donors the opportunity to streamline their philanthropic vision,” said Eileen Heisman, president and CEO of National Philanthropic Trust, marking its 20th year in 2016. “Whether it’s turning a collection of 18th-century Chinese furniture into charitable dollars or issuing a $300 grant to help victims of the Nepal earthquake, we are proud to help donors realize their charitable intentions.”

From Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2015, NPT donors supported 13,576 US and internationally-based charities with 25,026 grants totaling $643.7 million, a 23.7 percent increase in funding dollars compared to 2014. The average grant size was $26,750.

NPT ranks as one of the top 25 largest grantmaking institutions in the US and accepts the widest range of asset donations of any charitable organization. Since its founding in 1996, NPT has raised more than $5.9 billion in liquid and illiquid asset charitable contributions and has made more than 136,000 grants exceeding $3.2 billion to charities.
