Cambridge Design Partnership Showcases Connected Wearable Monitor at MD&M West

CAMBRIDGE, England & ANAHEIM, Calif.--()--Innovative technology and design company Cambridge Design Partnership will be exhibiting at Medical Device and Manufacturing West (MD&M West) on 9 – 11 February 2015 in Anaheim, California.

The show, which last year celebrated its 30th anniversary, is the world’s largest medical design and manufacturing event – thousands of exhibitors attend each year, with leading medical design experts there to network and showcase the latest innovations in medical device design and manufacturing processes.

Exhibiting for the fourth year running, Cambridge Design Partnership will be showcasing its latest medical wearable device, the First Response Monitor, at booth #1167. The compact device is a cutting-edge connected wearable device designed to help medics save the lives of multiple trauma casualties in natural disaster or battlefield situations. Featuring both respiratory and heart rate measurement, the small device clips safely onto a casualty’s nose, and provides ‘at-a-glance’ readings of both parameters. It can also collect and transmit the information to a mobile device in real time, enabling the medic to review trends of multiple casualties and provide more effective care.

The novel connected monitor demonstrates Cambridge Design Partnership’s core capabilities, from initial user understanding and insight, through to creating targeted low-cost miniaturised sensing, connected and user interface solutions.

Also displayed on the booth will be the award-winning needle safety device RauSafe, which was developed with Raumedic in just five months, and won the most innovative medical device at last year’s Compamed trade fair.

Cambridge Design Partnership will have a specialist team at the show from its UK and US offices including Matt Brady, head of the Medical Therapy Team; Willis Damkroger, Director Business Development; and Dr Dom Freeman, who leads Cambridge Design Partnership’s US office in Palo Alto, CA.

Willis has over 30 years in business development and marketing, recently focusing on medical design and product development, particularly active implantable and minimally invasive devices. Previous positions include COO, SVP, GM in MCM and semiconductor based companies with worldwide sales responsibilities, and he has expertise in transfer from design and development to mass manufacturing.

Matt has over 15 years’ experience across a range of medical device fields. From hand-held diagnostics to interventional devices, he is interested in the development of novel or improved devices and therapies and driving down the cost for commoditized segments.

Dom has over 30 years’ experience in the medical device design space, with deep knowledge of the self-monitoring blood glucose market place and competitors, and experience in developing magnetic resonance spectroscopy and imaging methods in vivo. She is a named inventor on over 140 US patents and author of 30 peer reviewed scientific journals.
