IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Toshiba’s Business Solutions Division (BSD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., today announced several new laptops designed to meet the varying needs of small businesses and mid-sized organizations. Designed, engineered and manufactured by Toshiba, the 14-inch Tecra C40 and Tecra A40, the 13.3-inch Portégé A30, the 15.6-inch Tecra A50, and the refreshed 15.6-inch Tecra C50 represent the expansion of Toshiba’s SMB lineup to include more choices in form factors, security and docking capabilities. The C Series laptops and the step-up A Series laptops are powered by Intel 6th generation core processors, while the entry-level Tecra C50 is powered by an Intel 5th generation core processor. All of the notebooks include Toshiba’s Quality Replacement Guarantee to increase peace of mind in making an investment in Toshiba.
“Small businesses and mid-sized organizations have many needs and varying preferences when it comes to their devices but often have fewer choices compared to their large enterprise counterparts,” said Carl Pinto, vice president of marketing and engineering, Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., Business Solutions Division. “With our expanded line of Tecra and Portégé products, we are able to offer a wide range of options to enhance user productivity, while delivering devices with enterprise-class performance for a low total cost of ownership.”
Big Performance for Small Business
The entry-level C series laptops feature essential ports, HD displays and Intel processors1. The laptops also feature a built-in DVD Drive2 as well as user-replaceable batteries.
The higher-end A Series laptops are equipped with a docking port and utilize the High Speed Port Replicator that is common across Toshiba’s Tecra and Portégé® line. The A Series notebooks also include a state-of-the-art Fingerprint Reader, spill-resistant, full-size backlit keyboard and Accupoint® pointing system.
The Tecra C50 and A50 feature a full-size keyboard with a 10-key numeric pad for easily powering through spreadsheets.
Toshiba Quality Replacement Guarantee
To demonstrate its commitment to quality and reliability, Toshiba is including the Toshiba Quality Replacement Guarantee3 for these new laptops. If the LCD panel, hard drive, memory or system board fails within the first year of ownership, Toshiba will replace the unit with a new laptop.
Excellent Battery Life Rating
Toshiba’s SMB laptops boast long lasting batteries to allow users the flexibility to tackle business tasks without interruption wherever business might happen. All models include a user-replaceable battery for greater convenience and assurance of laptop longevity.
Windows Operating System Flexibility
With its new line of SMB devices, Toshiba will offer a variety of Microsoft® operating systems to best suit each organization's IT requirements. Each device will ship with Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system, and will include Microsoft Windows 10 upgrade licensing rights in the packaging.
Toshiba BIOS for More Efficient (and Secure) Asset Management
With Toshiba’s proprietary BIOS, both Tecra and Portégé laptops deliver seamless integration of hardware and software that few PC manufacturers can deliver. Having proprietary BIOS speeds laptop customization and saves time managing assets—a valuable benefit for companies with limited IT resources. This foundational BIOS software also monitors the PC’s internal components to maintain stability, while offering system-level security and built-in countermeasures to prevent unauthorized access.
Efficient Collaboration and Sharing
To make the process of connecting, syncing, sharing and collaborating easier, the laptops are equipped with a webcam, Bluetooth® v4.0, the latest dual-band 802.11ac + abgn Wi-Fi®, and are wireless display ready4. A generous range of essential ports make doing business easier, including USB 3.05 and USB 2.0 ports, plus full-size HDMI® and VGA ports, Gigabit Ethernet and an SD Card reader. The line of dongle-free devices include a built in ODD and a user replaceable battery.
Easy to Manage within Corporate IT Environments
Toshiba developed the Tecra and Portégé laptops as the perfect complement platforms for the Toshiba Cloud Client Manager (TCCM) – a cloud service that allows IT administrators to easily manage end-point devices across a deployment by providing comprehensive tools and patch management to ensure device efficiency and compliance. Using a standard web browser, IT administrators can now oversee and take control of devices online in real-time.
EasyGuard Technology
In addition to a spill resistant keyboard designed and tested to help save data and shut down, these laptops all feature Toshiba’s innovative EasyGuard® Technology, adding multi-tiered security and data protection measures that guard components against accidental bumps. For quality and reliability, the laptops are rigorously tested to the stresses of heat, shock, vibration and Highly Accelerated Life Testing (HALT) at Toshiba’s facilities.

Toshiba notebooks are available from our network of resellers as well as our strategic partners: CDW, PC Connections, PCM, Insight, SHI and Zones. Pricing for the C Series starts at $545.99 and $829.99 for the A Series.
