LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Withings, a world leader in enabling healthier lifestyles through products that encourage activity, today announced Go, a fashionable activity and sleep tracker. Go is enabled by E Ink Holdings’, “E Ink” (8069.TW), latest developments in the segmented line of flexible, rugged and non-rectangular shaped displays. The launch of Go at CES 2016 follows on from the numerous awards Withings products received during CES 2015.
Withings Go automatically recognizes a variety of daily activities, which allows the user to wear it all day and track everything without having to push a button. For walking and running, the device analyzes number of steps, distance covered, calories burned as well as the duration of the running session. Go is also water-resistant (5 ATM) and automatically recognizes when the user starts swimming. At night, Go analyzes and can distinguish between light and deep sleep cycles. Withings Go connects to the free Withings Health Mate iOS and Android application that acts as a personal coach to track and motivate users to achieve their own activity goals. The main E Ink display of Go shows the user’s level of activity as a dial depicting the percentage of progress achieved toward a specific day’s activity goal. It will also transform to display the time, creating an analog watch face. No charging required, as it can operate continuously for up to 8 months.
The latest developments in E Ink display components are clearly focused to support wearable applications that demand, light, rugged and flexible displays requiring very little power to operate. The 1.1” circular segmented displays build upon the same energy sipping technology that E Ink is known for and extends it to support product designs requiring a non-rectangular display. The displays can be segmented or full active matrix. Development kits for product designers are also available.
“Withings prides itself in developing products that are both functional and elegantly designed,” said Amélie Caudron, Product Manager of Withings Go. “E Ink products gave us exactly that – a display technology that enhances rather than constrains the design.”
“Health and fitness products have always been a focus market for E Ink,” said Robert Williams, Director of North America Sales for E Ink’s ESI Business Unit. “With the launch of these circular displays, we have a clear commitment to enabling unique product designs in the growing health and exercise markets. We are extremely pleased that the first product is launched by Withings, a company that is focused on enabling healthier lifestyles and recognized for its leading edge product designs.”
Withings Go and E Ink’s unique display technologies can be seen during CES at both the E Ink and the Withings booths. E Ink can be found in South Hall 3 of the Las Vegas Convention Center at booth number 30466. Withings is located in the Fitness & Technology Marketplace, Sands Convention Center, booth 74300.
