LAS VEGAS--()--HARMAN International Industries, Incorporated (NYSE: HAR), the premier connected technologies company for automotive, consumer and enterprise markets, announced today that it is the first systems integration partner for Google’s Brillo and Weave platform. Brillo is Google’s new Android-based developer platform for the Internet of Things (IoT) and Weave is the communications protocol for IoT devices that enables device setup, phone-to-device-to-cloud communication, and user interaction from mobile devices and the web. Through this collaboration, HARMAN will support various device manufacturers to design and develop Brillo and Weave-based devices faster and more economically for a range of key IoT applications, including the smart home, consumer, automotive and enterprise segments.

HARMAN’s collaboration with Google spans over a decade, from the development and scaling of the Android-based ecosystem across mobile devices and consumer equipment to automotive, and now, IoT.

“We are excited to support Google as its first systems integration partner,” said Sanjay Dhawan, president, HARMAN Connected Services. “HARMAN will simplify the design process for manufacturers by providing support throughout the entire development cycle, ranging from initial concept design to final product release.”

HARMAN is already enabling its connected speaker product lines to support Weave and will collaborate closely with Google to ensure seamless interoperability of HARMAN products within a growing ecosystem of Brillo/Weave based devices.
